Has anyone read Mein Kampf?

I started reading it about 20 years ago, but man, Mr. Hitler was such a whiner, I think I only made it through the first 2 chapters. Does anyone know how it ends???

reply

From memory Adolf marries a Fairy Princess and they all live happily ever after.

reply

What about Eva Braun? I was really rooting for those two kids to get together.

reply

I've heard that it is a tedious read. Why bother, unless one is a historian.

reply

Well, I do like history and I thought it might be interesting to read what he had to say in his own words. But it really was a drag, and I hadn't even gotten to the political part yet. He just kept whining about his childhood. It's pretty clear that's where the trauma started!

reply

Are you able to read it in the original German?

reply

I didn't read it in German. I think it may be a bit too archaic.

reply

It ends with the Holocaust.

reply

Nope. I never had the desire.

reply

In college, they handed out excerpts from the book and we had to study it.

reply

interesting I think there might be a movie

His papa was a nasty piece of work. I think Adolf's Mother was his father's cousin - a lot of in-breeding in that village. Adolf made a sexual slave out of his own niece. The dysfunction ran deep, all that talk about 'pure blood' takes on a different cast in the light of his family culture.

Haven't read the book, have no desire to - but have heard he made his intention to conquer & colonize 'the east' quite plain. Wiser heads were always saying, during his rise to power and early territorial acquisitions in the Rhineland, etc., read the guy's book.

the ramblings of a psychopath.

reply

I actually thought it was coherent for the most part. He's just very whiny and delusional.

reply

most biographers don't even refer to mein kampf when writing about hitler. there's nothing in there that is useful.

reply

That's because there seems to be some kind of taboo on this book. If you want to be truthful about Hitler and present a complete picture, it shouldn't be ignored.
