Bob Dylan

Signed, million man.

reply

As I like to say, any Bob Dylan song can be done better by ANYBODY but Bob himself!!😎

reply

I'll be the oddball here...I actually like Dylan's "singing" on some of his songs ("Like A Rolling Stone," "Tangled Up In Blue," "Shelter From The Storm," et.al.). However, at some point in the 90s, he got to the point where his "singing" was just about unintelligible and it really got bad. He's a first-rate songwriter for sure, though.

reply

Unquestionably one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Same goes for Tom Waits, who on his early albums wasn't that bad as a singer, but around the 80's his voice became unbearable.

Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1944)

From her Wiki page:

Florence Foster Jenkins (born Narcissa Florence Foster; July 19, 1868 – November 26, 1944) was an American socialite and amateur soprano who became known, and mocked, for her flamboyant performance costumes and notably poor singing ability. Stephen Pile ranked her "the world's worst opera singer ... No one, before or since, has succeeded in liberating themselves quite so completely from the shackles of musical notation."

Despite – or perhaps because of – her technical incompetence she became a prominent musical cult-figure in New York City during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Cole Porter, Gian Carlo Menotti, Lily Pons, Sir Thomas Beecham, and other celebrities were fans. Enrico Caruso reportedly "regarded her with affection and respect".

that's funny.

I LOVE her! I've cherished my CD copy of her record for decades! I consider her an inspiration, when I listen to her godawful singing and her heroic pianist trying to follow her lack of rhythm, I'm inspired to do anything I want just for the love of doing it!

There's a movie about her, too, which is a decent movie but which I found slightly disappointing. It's totally not about doing what you love regardless of what anyone things, just for love of doing it.

Nigel Hawthorne was also a big fan.

All the glass shattered in my house. Thanks alot!

😄I had to turn down the volume on that video because my wife is in the other room and I didn’t want her to think I was watching some sort of terrible, violent pornography on my phone LOL!

reply

I tried to return the Plastic Ono Band Live In Toronto album because side two is her making noise.
They did not accept it.
So I am still stuck with it all these years later and I have never listened to the whole side.

reply

Hold onto it, I’d bet every other copy was smashed or frisbee’d into a river and yours could become a valuable asset if they ever build a Shitty Music Hall Of Fame.

reply

always near the top of the list.

reply

Mick Jagger.

Terrible singer, really, but he makes up for it by being a GREAT performer.

reply

Sam Smith's voice just sounds unpleasent and odd to me.

reply

Madonna was average at best even in her prime.
Dave Mustaine is awful.

reply

She's the little engine that could. She really does good for her average voice.
