Weightloss and fitness

I deal with a lot of gym fans. Men and women who are trying to meet an body image similar to what we see in movies, social media, etc...
It's a little concerning and I see them go a little crazy on powders, supplements, and protein. Especially since many are under 25 years old.

I started going using my old ass method. I dropped 46lbs since October. I did it with diet, light exercise, and now weightlifting. I don't take supplements (aside from a cup of coffee I. The morning). My food tends to be trail mix with dried fruits for most of the day. A solid muscle meat with veggies at night). I have the occasional soda or small bag of chips (about every three days. But no alcohol. I've got muscle growth and fat loss with plenty of energy.

In the 90's, my mother did a similar approach of walking with friends, aerobics at home, portion control, and limited sweets and alcohol. She dropped 50lbs at my age (41).

Have you had success? What did or do you do?

I’ve found success with Intermittent Fasting which is a fancy term for ‘don’t eat so goddam much!’
I’m not a U.S. Marine in a war zone and I don’t play pro football, so why would I require 5,000 calories a day..?

Eat a dozen or so meals a week, it won’t kill you, just drink plenty of water.

Walk a lot, chop and hump firewood, get up off the couch and move to do something every twenty minutes! Other simple chores like washing laundry, sweeping, tug-o’-war and fetch with my dog, tidying the garage, light stretching and workouts, doing dishes…there’s always something to be done, physical activity is key.

I weigh two pounds more now than I did in High School over thirty years ago. I’m not all buff or anything approaching it but that’s OK, Calvin Klein isn’t calling me to do underpants ads these days anyway😄

There is nothing wrong with that stuff if you do your research and you know what you are doing.

The problem is that most people, especially younger people pick a guru to follow because of their physique, and they blindly follow anything that they are told. And all those people if they are monetized have supplement sponsors.

But yeah, there is no magic to it. Pick something, dedicate yourself to it. Work hard and watch what you eat.

I have to agree. One guy told me about how his protein was giving him stomach issues. He was taking 50% more than his daily intake to get 'swoll.' He and I looked up the macros and he corrected. He did it because if an influencer.

Thats great! Its good to read when someone is reaching their goals.

Many people are brainwashed by the magazines and ads, consuming supplements without really looking into what they heck they are and how they work. I've known people who thought just because you are gonna start some cardiovascular exercise you have to pop a "super green tea great guarana volcanic soil grown herbal fat loss pill" (thats trademarked btw, so dont go around just using that xD). They just jump on the bandwagon immediately. But people come around usually after doing their own research. Some stuff is good for you and helps, but others is unnecessary or overkill.

I've found the most success I had was when I did 30 minutes of cycling on a stationary bike, and weight training. Do different muscle groups on different days. Also lost the most fat weight when I kept carbohydrates at 100 grams or under.
