Females are the ones that grow buds. Males don't grow buds. And if you keep the males near the females and not destroy them they can turn the females into males. Another important thing is, to get them to bud, they need 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. That's the ratio of light/dark that triggers the budding.
shareGrowing outdoors if fun, but there are a lot of variables to contend with. Weather, animals, pests, mold, powdery mildew, etc.
Start them indoors in the spring and then transplant outdoors late June in big holes with good soil and the proper amendments.
Indoor growing presents far fewer headaches since its a more controlled environment. If you get the hang of it, you'll never have to buy it again.
I'm going to start indoor because outside doesn't get alot of sunlight, because I'm surrounded by trees.
