Half the world watched the world cup final. Only 26 mil Americans did

And I'm guessing a whole bunch of that 26 mil were Latinos, many born outside of the US.

How sad we are. πŸ˜₯

Cup?

Did I stutter?

reply

Probably.

Football was never big in the USA until the South American influence became more prevalent. American Football, Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey will always come in front of it.

reply

SOCCER IS BORING...SORRY...BUT NOT REALLY. NOEMOJI

reply

American announcers monotone baseball voice makes it boring. Spanish is livelier and more fun:
"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

reply

tru dat

american value strength in upper body in sport. they do not understand sport where you cant use hand and arm.

america become powerful country by value the strength. they are made of europe's winners (the losers stay behinds). it is not there culture. there culture is baseballs etc

american starting to accept soccer more but will never embrace soccer entire.

reply

I disagree, as the Latino population grows, and their influence, it will conquer America, keeping in mind that the female team are the best in the world.

reply

i cant see soccer conquer america. the nfl is huge!! is part of there culture on sunday to watch this game for so long! there high school and college football is huge. i watch friday night lights and cant see this kind of obsess with american football being same with soccer!

but soccer has grown a lot. young american starting to appreciate soccer. it is team sport. all glory in nfl is with quarterback and coach but soccer is more team.

Soccer is the same fundamental game as hockey, except it's way easier. Don't know how to ice skate? That's okay, you can just run, you know, that thing that everyone figured out how to do on their own when they were a toddler. Having trouble controlling a 1" thick, 3" diameter disk with a stick? No problem, here's a 9" diameter ball that you can kick directly with your feet. Is a 6' x 4' goal too small of a target? Here's a goal for you that's 8 times bigger.

Also, are you a bit on the delicate side? Don't like the idea of getting checked? Then soccer is the sport for you. The rules offer you so much protection that countless players even pretend to get hit - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diving_(association_football) - in order to penalize the other team.

reply

The time of the game was not set to lure Americans. Maybe you're sad but most of the rest of us had other interests.

reply

Sad - how so? I have absolutely no interest in soccer - not sure why I should feel bad about it.

reply

no some op us like the fast paced game over the lumbering old men playing american football, with more commercials and ridiculous costumes with dangerous helmets

reply

Yep those fast paced games of 0-0 scores after 2 hours. That's just too much for my heart to take.

reply

Yeah. Ain't it great how the ball can move allll the way down the field and mean nothing? Much like Basketball, the majority of Poverty-ball is meaningless activity. Just watch the last few minutes of a game and you get the digest of the whole. Football and Baseball at least have cumulative significance of action.
