Did Anyone Go To The Bar/Pub Yesterday?

I'm in the US, and somewhere along the line, the day before Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of November) became the biggest day to go to the bar.. Not sure why - I never liked them.

If you went, was there a reason why? Was it because of the day, or were you going anyway? Or did you go alone knowing the information hoping to meet someone?

No, but the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was always a big Pub Crawl night for me and my Pals when I was a younger dude yet somehow we all wound up married, we have mortgages now, are raising kids and we are all pushing 50…

Goddam, I’m a boring middle-classer! I didn’t see this coming…

The Boys mostly went out to get good and wasted and meet Girls, but I got in troubles quite often in the Pubs. My garage is my pub now and I control the music. I got Willie Nelson playing right now👍

Same here buddy. We are having all the relatives at my house today and I know all the 20 something’s are going to be feeling like hell. I don’t know how I made it to Thanksgiving dinner in my 20s. After dinner back then it meant loading up the truck and heading to the hunting camp for the 3 day weekend of hunting and getting drunk every night again but this time without any females. 😀

I didn’t even get my hunting license this season, I’m so busy with this house I don’t have time Amigo!
I need to get a new fishing license for me and my son.

You meet a pretty girl and buy her a big house and you just get busy…She’s worth it though, the Lady is everything.

We have 18 people coming tonight for dinner. It’s all a lot of work but I’ve got most of the chores done already.

Still, sometimes a fellow would like to be in the cold woods with a rifle and a Deer track to follow.

You got that right. The list never ends.

I remember thinking about going once, and a friend said it would be too busy, and unlikely to have a conversation with anyone you didn't come in with.

I used to enjoy - but only perhaps as the best of bad options - going to bars that didn't appeal to people with enough money to want to appear classy. One person's dive is another person's local hang-out, and some busy places weren't that expensive and people aren't too judgy about where everyone fits on the social scale, it seems.
Finding good conversation was certainly hit-and-miss, but when it was found it could be very satisfying.
Tbh, I've spent a lot of time in a bunch of different bars. I may have arrived and left alone, but I had a lot of interesting times and met interesting people. I'd say more positives than not, but I guess you have to have the right temperament and expectations for it.

Its mostly college kids and young 20 somethings, reconnecting with friends while visiting home. I remember the night before Thanksgiving always used to be a big party night. Now that I'm older, spontaneous fun like that is rare.

the weekend before christmas was always a big party night.

I went to work on Thanksgiving to make up some time I lost due to a plant lockout during Hurricane Nicole. I’m a contractor so I only get paid for hours I work and I try to be disciplined about working 40 hrs per week.

Nope. Didn't subject myself to being around obnoxious drunks.
