Who would you consider to be a modern day "William Shakespeare"?
If any?
shareI don't consider him a "modern day William Shakespeare" but love his legal thrillers adapted to film. Apparently, this is his most recent one https://www.amazon.com/Boys-Biloxi-Legal-Thriller-ebook/dp/B09ZK4KVTX

John Clarke (1948-2017) was a New Zealand comedian who moved to Australia in 1977 and had a very successful career as a comedy writer and performer.

shareI’d like to add a little-known fact about William Shakespeare that I think may interest you have posted here. He did not write his plays—the
Comedies, Tragedies and Histories with the hope of earning centuries of fame and popularity. He wrote them to make money. Period. Yes, he wrote them to entertain an audience, but that was HOW he made money. He wanted to cover the seats in his theater at Stratford-on-Avon with asses. He had an enormous poetic gift and also a gift for telling a story, like Stephen King and Steven Spielberg do in our era—but his goal was to make a buck. Like many of the artists named in this topic, he concentrated on commercial success and popularity. Shakespeare Is an example of a simple, powerful secret: take care of the audience, and the money and renown will take care of themselves.
Interesting point!
shareAnne Hathaway because she has the same last name as his wife.
shareWhat about this girl? Shouldn't she get some love too?

Im no smarty pants but ill say rushdie, he's all over that magic realism too.
