reply

Out of all of those, I've only seen A Clockwork Orange.

Frankly, none of the others sound like anything I'd be interested in.

reply

I haven’t seen Triumph of the Will or Birth of a Nation. I have Last Temptation, Salo, Clockwork, and Last Tango in Paris on blu ray. I love Freaks but don’t own it. I didn’t like Viridiana at all.

reply

A Serbian Film and The Human Centipede should be on that list too.

reply

Cannibal Holocaust (1980) is another one that might be good on such a list.

reply

I think the Human Centipede was just a ploy to get that title, most controversial film, and attention. He got it, but not worth my time.

reply

No, I don't watch smut. I saw clockwork once orange. It was ok I guess

I was forced to watch "Birth of a Nation" in film studies class back in high school. It was boring, difficult to follow, and an extremely crappy story. Didn't help it was a silent film, so that made it even more difficult to understand. Once it was explained to us by the teacher, the story sounded both horrendous and disgusting in terms of racism and real white supremacy.

It includes black people taking over the US govt, enslaving white people as revenge, turning America into a chaotic, anarchic state, a girl getting raped by a black guy who stalked her, and the KKK (excuse me, this next phrase made me want to barf, actually this entire film's premise makes me ill and disgusted) comes along like white knights, saving everyone. Small wonder this film has a very troubled history, as does the shitty book it's based on.

I've only seen three of them, all in movie theaters (as opposed to home viewing) ...
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
Last Tango In Paris (1972)
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)

reply

All except the first one, and Salo, both which I turned off after a while.

I love "Last Tango In Paris".. "A Clockwork Orange" used to be a favorite of mine over 20 yrs ago, and I've been wanting to re-watch it to see how my current self likes it, but it seems like I remember it already.

reply

The only one I've seen is A Clockwork Orange.
