What is it like to live in Los Angeles? Is it worth it?
I don't think I could handle it. I like a place with all 4 seasons. Plus, the horrid traffic. Alot of people seem very materialistic there.

Ask Ticketsplease! He's a 20-something aspiring actor from Australia who lives in Los Angeles.
shareOn the plus side, LA has amazing weather and In N Out Burger. I would live there if the opportunity presented itself.

When I was there this spring, I decided my trip wouldn't be complete without getting an In-N-Out meal! But at every damn franchise the line of cars was 6 blocks long, and dangerously exposed to traffic. "Screw this", I decided.
You have to have a reason to live in the LA Basin these days, because for most people it's a life of work 10-12-16 hours a day and then commuting for hours more. Because nobody can afford to live near their job.

shareVery nostalgic, great clips.
‘It’s a fine place to enjoy life’ and thank goodness Joe Friday is always on the case:)
I'm not sure if people still think movie stars walk down Hollywood Blvd. They don't. Hollywood is mostly post-punks, homeless and tourists. But the film industry is big here. Every 10th person is a film extra or is writing a screenplay.
Nah, it's a great city though. I grew up here. But if you're not gonna live by the beaches there's no point. The interior suburbs are all hot paved over track homes. The beach cities from Malibu to Laguna are all great places to live.
yeah I heard they don't develop high rises in the suburbs communities there because the home owners vote against it to keep the communities nice and safe but they all vote democrat and drive you crazy until you are giving blow jobs to republicans for money . If you are in poverty it's impossible to find an apartment affordable out there, maybe in the hood but I am just being honest about it.
shareThe nicer suburbs are all white and Asian and vote Republican.
Yes, it's expensive to live near the beach.
What about Bakersfield?
shareIf Los Angeles is not to your liking, then you'll love Bakersfield. It's home to a local hockey arena where, last I heard, fresh made chili is sold to attendees in the stands. Here's a behind the scenes look at this process:

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country (Canada)"
shareThat's weird because the creator of the show is Canadian and went to business school up there, where he got really good grades.
shareDid you know this was a real movie: https://moviechat.org/tt0096455 ? I can say with absolute sincerity that N4U began as the funniest show of all time, and somehow transformed in to the greatest and funniest show of all time, with profound observations on the human condition.
And if Bakersfield is on the menu, you might as well avoid the meth and check out somewhere closer to the majesty of the Sierra Nevadas like Lone Pine, or anywhere north of Chico. California is a magical and incredibly geographically diverse state.
Bakersfield is in the big San Joaquin Valley in Central California. I've been there a few times and it's hot as fuck, no beaches for hundreds of miles. I'm spoiled by the ocean here in LA County.
shareAgreed. The actual geographic area known as "Hollywood" is a shithole, but if seeing a famous person in the wild is what you're after, it's tough to swing a dead cat around the less gross parts of town and not hit a celebrity most days. Just remember they are human beings with feelings too, and likely get interrupted dozens or scores of times a day, and that has to get old, so bear that in mind if you engage. Have had tons of celebrity encounters, many of which have been quite positive, but I work in the biz and *almost* never fanboi out on them.
sharetraffic is crazy, a ride that is less than 30 minutes at midnight is 2 and a half hours at rush hour. i vanlife in LA and really do enjoy it in short intervals but would never want to live there long term it is just too nuts. the food is good quality compared to rest of McMurica and woman are super fucking hot but the smog is insanity and the people are crazy in the head. in my hometown of Cleveland everyone looks ugly on the outside but have great wholesome personalities but in LA many people look great on the outside but have very ugly personalities once u pick their brains a bit
shareyou have to deal with the crime
shareVery expensive to live in LA. I know someone who works there. He has a two-hour commute to work because that's the closest he can find housing that is affordable on his salary.
