Failed opportunity for you to flex your muscles and say "only these", when he asked if there were guns in your car.

reply

Ha...I don't think he thought a white girl driving a Miata had a gun. I'm guessing its a required question here in Arizona.

reply

I also have a Miata - 2008 Touring - Copper Red with a charcoal and grey interior. Love the car, but my only regret is I didn't get a power top.

reply

In many states, when a law enforcement officer asks, any person lawfully carrying a concealed weapon must inform the officer if they have a gun. This is because during traffic stops, police officers can take temporary custody of the gun to ensure officer safety and then return it when the motorist is allowed to return to the roadway.

reply

I have no problem with the question...My thought is that this must be a standard question for Arizona police, they have to ask it. There is no way he thought I had a gun. I honestly have no idea. The last time I was pulled over for speeding was 5 year ago, and he didn't ask me that then.

reply

How would he know you didn't have a gun? It's legal in Arizona.

reply

My question is, is this standard procedure? There is no way he thought I had a gun...Does every cop ask pull overs if they have a weapon in Arizona?

reply

You must openly display the gun. If he doesn't see one, the cop usually asks. If it's not displayed it must be locked up in the glove compartment. He was probably looking for some excuse to give you a ticket.

Again, why would he not think you might have a gun? Are you a Buddhist monk?

reply

Your missing the point.. I think that question is now standard procedure for police stops in Arizona.

reply

Honestly I was just curious about this statement:

There is no way he thought I had a gun

Why?

reply

I'm a little girl.

reply

Are you sure of the phrasing? It wasn't "Miss, why don't you have a gun?" :D

reply

definitely not a normal question in NJ. we're very strict. an undercover cop makes it sound like a creepier question to me.

there were a couple big gun cases near me. a woman from philly only had her gun for a week after she bought one for self protection when she had a knife put to her neck during her latest mugging.

she drove to NJ to meet her sister for a birthday trip.
she was pulled over for not using a blinker. she voluntarily told the officer she had her gun on her. 3 years mandatory.

reply

No he was a cop, full uniform, totally professional. Arizona, California, New York, I'm guessing this a standard question.

reply

oh. ok. less creepy. your title says undercover. i had an image of a much shadier transaction.
edit: i gotcha though, UC cop car. not cop

reply

No his car was not police issue.. But full uniform...Man I wish this transaction was hot, but no.
Do I have a gun in the car was so out of left field.

reply

in canada we would call it an unmarked car.

reply

In America, most people would do the same. An officer in full uniform isn't an "undercover cop". He obviously wasn't infiltrating some large-scale narcotics operation--just driving an unmarked car.

reply

Blonde driving a Miata. He was hitting on you.

Did he try to sell you tickets to the policeman’s ball?
