Twilight? Eh, not really. 50 Shades of Grey was okay. A bit too "nothing actually happens" except the kinky sex. The whole movie was just that and nothing else.
It's like as if Basic Instinct was just about the sex, no mystery, no murder, no investigation, nothing. Would rather watch porn instead. At least the plumber has a back story.
I don't really care what other people think of my choices when it comes to entertainment. I can admit that something is absolutely terrible, but I can still get a kick out of watching it. I'm not ashamed of that.
I'm not saying that they have to be horrible movies, I was just using that as an example. I have no issues admitting to watching anything. Including a Serbian Film, Twilight series, or 50 Shades as I've seen all of them.
Giving this a bit more thought, I think there may be certain groups of people that I might not admit to watching movies because of how those friends feel about the writers or directors. I can separate art from the person, so I don't have issues watching a movie like the Ninth Gate (Roman Polanski), the Harry Potter movies (J.K. Rowling), The Usual Suspects (Kevin Spacey) but I might not invite them to a watch party. I wouldn't deny that I watch and enjoy them, but I might want to avoid the fight of how I support TERFs and rapists.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Thelma & Louise". I know it's about female empowerment and it's aimed at women, but I wouldn't consider it a "chick flick" per se. A chick flick is a romantic comedy or a tear-jerking drama.
I think a movie I wouldn't be caught dead watching is "Pee Wee's Big Adventure". But then again I've never seen it.
