What old tv shows would you like to see revived or rebooted?

With so many shows being revived or rebooted, is there a particular show that you want to see come back?
Pushing Daisies or Human Target

Joan of Arcadia and Tru Calling.

reply

Good choices. Hated that Tru Calling ended on a cliffhanger.

Max Headroom. It would be an even bigger hit now than it was in the 80s,

And put it on a quality streaming service, like HBOmax or Paramount+.

reply

I've just been rewatching it on Tubi.

Reboot or bring back Matt Frewer?

reply

Good question. I think Matt is too old for the gig, but it will take someone very special to replace him. He can be both drolly comic and seriously dramatic. “Fifteen minutes into the future”? Max Headroom resonates with the digital platform and look-at-me media realities of 2022 than it ever did originally.

reply

It was a hit? Did it even last one season? I remember it being heavily promoted and quickly cancelled.

reply

Let me rephrase that. Max Headroom would find a much bigger audience today than it did on its first run. The tech that seemed unrealistic back then is common today. I believe it lasted 1 season, in a TV environment where it was considered a freak. We had 3 networks and some cable and satellite, not at all like today when we have so many providers that a niche show can find its true audience and thrive.

Remember, this show grew out of a SOFT DRINK COMMERCIAL. I think it was Pepsi who based an ad campaign on the AI Max, which is pretty amazing. His CGI was made deliberately buggy. The show addressed issues like cyberpunk Blank Reg living off the grid and the relationships between humans and AI. And it was FUNNY. I would be AMAZED to see this show unleaded in the opportunities of 2022.

If anyone has any casting ideas, have at. Before you mention Jim Carrey as Max: he’s too old.

He was also featured in a music video for The Art of Noise:

Max sure gets around, doesn’t he!

Lamb Chop's Play Along. You know, the one with the sock puppet...

Shari Lewis died about 20 years ago, so it would have to be a reboot.

Dark Angel with Jessica Alba

I would like to see a Peter Gunn movie with Jon Hamm.

reply

Peter Gunn, arguably the best opening credits score ever. At the very least, tied in a dead heat for the best. I’m convinced that the 60s Bond scores and the Sin City scores were savvy enough to have poached it.

Let's see a Sliders revival, especially since the proposed movie didn't reach its financing goals.

I've been waiting for over 20 years... and now is as good a time as any!!!

MST3000.

The thirteenth season is currently in production and already has a couple episodes out. What more do you want?

reply

So it is. But it's only on Netflix?

Wonderfalls
