Biggest sport in your country?

Here in England it's football, what's yours?

I'll have a few guesses,

USA. Baseball?
Canada. Ice hockey?

USA - American NFL Football

Coincidentally just looked this up the other day bc I thought it was baseball, but no…

MMA more popular than boxing....WHAT????

reply

I'm in the US and American football was always my favorite sport. I'm actually more a fan of college football over NFL football. Basketball is number two for me and I get more excited about college basketball. I just find baseball to be really boring. A lot of the immigrants to the US like soccer/football so it'll be interesting to see if those leagues gain in popularity. Many people think that American football will end due to the many injuries of the sport but I hope they can make the play less violent.

‘Sunny’ Bournemouth (which seceded from the UK without telling anyone); frisbee or possibly sun bathing (that is an Olympic sport, right?).

reply

That's it, this summer, we're house swapping. I'll take a cloudy Bournemouthian(?) summer, over a blistering hot Canadian summer.

reply

It’s been positively balmy here right now - I had the top down on my car and everything.

reply

It's cold here now, but once May hits I'm sweating bullets.

i was telling my boss this morning how depressed i am that we're back in the part of the year where we're staring down 4 months of grinding, endless heat.

reply

I honestly can't stand it. I'm so miserable in the warmer months. The days are so long and boring and I feel like absolute shit physically and mentally. I noticed that I actually listen to darker music during that time.

"...frisbee or possibly sun bathing (that is an Olympic sport, right?)."

If breakdancing and skateboarding can be classified as Olympic sports, then why not the ones you mentioned?

Canada:
Biggest sport: hockey
Official sport: lacrosse

reply

what happened with the soccer game?

reply

Canada lost. People are overhyping them. They'll get destroyed when they play a great team.

reply

so will they make the world cup?

reply

If they win or tie against Jamaica on Sunday. All that to get obliterated 10-0 when we face the real teams.

reply

i actually wonder - if you add up participation...what people actually play...would canada's answer be curling?

reply

Curling and hockey. No one is playing lacrosse.

Rugby (Union) - Wales

reply

Rugby is just punching and smothering everyone else and there is a ball in the muddy grass

That ‘sport’ excuse for murder will not stand up in a court of law!

reply

Must start the game with Shirley Bassey, naturally.
