How do I get a better taste in music?

shareI'd recommend a music appreciation class on youtube or even a social media platform like twitter, tiktok or GETTR. Khan Academy has free courses. There could even be podcasts about music.

I would say it’s impossible because taste in music is completely subjective and what is considered good music will change from person to person. You like what you like, you know?
If you want to broaden your taste in music it’s as simple as listening to as many different styles as you can and work out what styles or genres appeal to you. Spotify is good for that, the more you listen to different styles the more diverse the recommendations will be.
What kind of music do you like now? And what do you mean by a better taste? (That said, if you're not listening to Blue Oyster Cult, listen to Blue Oyster Cult.)

shareDon't worry about what other people think of your music tastes. Listen to as much variety you can, and when something clicks, you'll know.

shareClassical music's greatest hits. The problem with those is they are overplayed and reduced to easy listening. Never saw that advert but in the UK the Readers Digest collection was similarly pushed for years.
shareIt will enrich every home! "Polovtsian Dance no. 2 by Borodin" was something of a running joke amongst us kids, as with "Corinthian leather." If we heard an unknown piece of classical music, "It's Polovtsian Dance no. 2 by Borodin!"
sharePretty sure there was/is a classical guitar virtuoso also named John Williams, very well-known in the field.
shareBBC Radio 3. All kinds of music there and well informed presenters to put it in context. Don't know if it will give you better taste (how do you define that anyway?) but it will almost certainly broaden it.
