Who uses Twitter?

Something I've never really gotten into. The layout and trying to open replies has always bugged me.

I've only really used it for live tv events when I want to tweet and read opinions as the show airs.

Like The Voice, I've had a judge like my tweet while watching the show. But I'll also get lots of reactions for nasty comments about how bad someone is. πŸ˜‚

For those scenarios, it's superior to other social media platforms.

But for other scenarios I just don't use it.

Yourself?

I had one but deleted it a few years ago. I do occasionally use their search function though which you don't need an account for.

I have one that I follow about 4 people with. I wish to God that there was another way because Twitter is such a terrible form of social media. An absolute train wreck.

i'm a twitter obsessive. i'm on it constantly, even at work to my shame. one day i'm gonna truly get busted when someone from work looks at my feed & sees that i'm fighting on twitter all morning.

i actually think it's a great resource. yes, it's fine tuned to provoke outrage, but it also gives you access to lots and lots of big brains. i personally have had lots of interactions with tons of smart people that i really admire, and i've learned a lot from my time on there.

if you curate your feed properly and block or mute with proper diligence, it's very useful.

reply

Nice. Maybe I should try it out more thoroughly. Do you remember real name or an alias?

reply

Nope - I think I might have an account, but I never use it.

Twitter, the only large site once run by an actual terrorist, Jack Dorsey.

I've been thrown off Twitter for arguing with the nutty left and the nutty right.

hmmm

It really is cancer.

reply

That you know of.

I do not, for those same reasons.

I still use it. It's amusing to scroll through on commercial breaks. Takes a long time to tweak your feed just right. The more you interact with it, the better it works. You have to like and retweet tons of posts and follows tons of users before before you finally get interesting stuff to read. It really went to hell a few years back when they drove Trump off, and ton of other wrong-think people. Ton of other people just up and quit around the same time. Got a lot more boring after all that. It's mostly useless for actually communicating with people. I mainly use it to follow writers, artist, filmmakers, get the latest news on movies and comics, that sort of thing. When your favorite band is going on tour. Pretty good tool for that stuff. Oh, and there's a freaky amount of porn getting flung around of course. I've found lots of favorite "models" through twitter.

Twitter should be shut down. Social media is contributing to the downfall of our society. It's a scourge.
