I stopped watching Bond films when Craig took over. He just doesn't look the way Bond should look to me. To be fair though though the Bond films had been crap for some time before that anyway. To me Connery and Moore remain the best Bonds.
Brosnan wasn't bad either but by that stage there wasn't anything special or different about Bond films anymore. They could have been any type of action film.
I would say he's tied for the best, with Connery, or is a very close second. Both radiate the charisma and testosterone of an ideal Bond, both seem genuinely dangerous, able to either outwit or kick the shit out of just about anyone. They're both terrific.
Craig has an edge over Bond in that he's got more going on behind the eyes, he can look at a villain with a grim face expressing nothing but fearlessness and threats, and we can see exactly what he's thinking, all his anger and secret fears. Connery couldn't do that, he was a good actor but he never let the camera see that deep, and yeah. I think Craig is a very good actor, or can be (he was crap in "Knives Out").
But Connery is better than Craig in two ways: First, he had a charm and sense of humor that Craig did not, which IMHO makes him sexier, and second - he also originated the role and set the standard. Yes, Craig is damn good, incredibly good, but almost everything he's been doing has been based on Connery's work.
He's an idiot. Sean Connery is James Bond. Those other jokers are just lame actors who played Bond.
