Dream vacation

Do you have a dream vacation hotel-resort-place-destination-city that you would really like to visit... bucket list kinda thing?

Mine is staying at the Four Seasons Bora Bora.

I would love to have a few months to explore Russia. It's such a vast and diverse country with SO many places of interest (for me). Lake Baikal, deserted Soviet cities, etc., etc., etc.

reply

Russia gets a little cold.

reply

There are very temperate parts.

reply

It's mostly really cold all over the place. Moscow is bloody cold.

I still wanna go. šŸ™‚

I have several bucket list trips:

Egypt with a Nile cruise and a pre or post Great Migration safari.

South America cruise around the Horn with an extension to Antarctica.

India - to see the Taj Mahal and do a safari.

Cruise to French Polynesia

Visit Moscow to see the Kremlin and the Imperial treasures and the Crimea to see the Lavadia Palace,(unfortunately this won't happen for a long time.)

Stay in one of those igloo style dome hotels in Scandinavia to see the Northern Lights - (get high and listen to classical music and Pink Floyd at night - the ultimate mind trip.)

When I was a kid I would study the Mobil Travel Guide, fascinated by the highest-rated hotels, motels, resorts, and restaurants. The guides are now the Forbes Travel Guide, with which I am not familiar, and besides, I wouldn't be looking at it with the wonderment of a kid/teen.

Some people are outdoor/camping lovers, some would prefer the 5-star luxury experience. Nowadays I am neither, I am not an outdoorsman, and the 5-Star stuff I'm just not willing to spend that kind of money. I'd like to tour the UK.

You could have seen Butt hole Road but I believe they've renamed it.

I've been all over the world and love cruising, but one of my very best vacations was an 18 day camping trip in the west. In the 80's we bought a pop up camper and did "See America" vacations with my son. One night we camped at the base of Devils Tower and a full moon was out - it was breathtaking.

I would love to spend a few days alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere surrounded by snow. That would be so peaceful.

I'd love to live aboard a boat in the Caribbean and tour some of the dive sites for a couple of weeks.

reply

Now that would be nice. I have some friends who dive off Utila a lot and it looks like paradise.

I know Arkansas is not quite the Caribbean, but Iā€™m looking to rent a house boat on Lake Ouachita for a week or so this spring. No diving there but nice and relaxing.

reply

Utila is on the list.

reply

Great! Are you actually planning to do this trip sometime soon?

reply

Not currently. My immune system is still compromised so international travel just isn't in the cards. Might be another year or two. Will have to see what my lymphocytes do. We also have been talking about doing a live aboard for the Great Barrier in Australia while it's still living and also head over to Ningaloo and see some whale sharks. There are just so many places in this world to see.

reply

You are so right. I think living on a boat in the Caribbean would be great for a couple of months! I hope your blood work improves soon. šŸ‘
