why are people so dumb? theories?

the question is what it is:

why are people so dumb?

I don't mean persons with mental learning challenges, but the mass population as a whole.
This isn't a new thing, but it is getting worse and worse along side the availability to self educate is greater and greater.

Love to hear some time proven theories on this. REAL stuff, not "government sprays chemtrails" crap...
what about education institutions? is schooling to blame?
Why are colleges popping out social warriors instead of learned types? Maybe there is really only so much human space for brilliance, and the rest must be misdirected so they don't eat each other.

Other theories?

reply

I think part of it is because, as you say, the availability to self educate is greater and greater

In the abstract this sounds great, but in practice it can lead to people miseducating themselves. Ignorance is one thing, but nowadays everybody wants to have an opinion about every single topic, and their opinion is based on some shoddy source

Then they argue with other people that also self-educated using their own shoddy sources, and what you end up with is two people barking at each other, both using flawed information as their proof, getting nowhere

Other people above me have basically already stated this, but the worst part is that now you can easily find sources that reinforce your existing biases for ANY opinion, no matter how crazy, how debunked, or how despicable

reply

Yes. Formerly isolated hate groups can now easily hook up and exchange messages, then easily disseminate their propaganda everywhere within seconds. This makes these groups appear to be larger and more powerful than they are in reality. And this is exactly what they want.

well put!

Who r u calling dum?

reply

People are dumb, it solves nothing to call attention to it. Put forth a fun question so we can at least have a fun time while we're here at moviechat.

reply

" Entertain me ! "

reply

I got nothing, I was just reading your accent thread.

reply

Is 123Guy dumb, if he cannot come up with a fun entertaining question here?

reply

No not at all. I think its tough to come up with things that will engage everyone here.

reply

im kinda good an engaging with controversial things more than fun things. I'll work on that.

reply

why are you so smart?

reply

Because he's not people.

reply

he thinks he is.

reply

No he's not. People are dumb. He's smart. Therefore, he's not people.

reply

Then he's not soylent green either.

reply

Soylent green is dumb! Soylent green is dumb! Theories?

reply

No, soylent green is people !

reply

But people are so dumb.

It's a FACT.
Prove me wrong!

reply

Some people are dumb and some people are soylent green. But not all people are dumb and not all people are soylent green.

The most popular one is that stupid people breed like rabbits, making more of themselves (even if they can't afford it); whereas intelligent people only have a few kids, due to the practicalities of finances and time available for parenting, and therefore, less intelligent people are born each year because of that. In many cases, stupid people buy into liberal values because they don't question the logic behind such ideas, or where they come from. Intelligent people tend to question such things, and these days, intelligence and critical thinking are not valued one bit in the academic world.

Public schooling is partially to blame, but both they and the parents involved are both at fault. You've got a lot of very lazy, stupid parents, or parents who are overworked trying to pay bills and raise a family, or parents who have unwanted children, and they often just dump the kids into these public schools (turning them into glorified daycare services), having no clue what kind of dog shit is going on inside those walls until the kids bring home ideas or homework subjects that make them do a double-take. Public schools have always leaned liberal, and they tend to hire liberal teachers and chase off the conservative ones, so all you have are a bunch of idiots that believe in the same dog shit as the pie-in-the-sky professors at colleges, who buy into the SJW crapola and brainwash our kids into thinking the same way.

In the case of colleges, many tend to hire more liberal professors than conservative ones (just like the public schools), and when liberals are in their ivory towers, really bad ideas take root that they visit on unsuspecting students who might not realize they are being brainwashed until they come out of college a useful idiot, and their parents are staring at them and shock and saying "What the hell were you smoking?!"

reply

excellent layout here. sounds spot on. though I am not up and exactly what liberal and conservative covers, I understand what you mean.

looking at this on a pretend flowchart design, where does all this liberal trend go? toward higher level functioning slaves for 1% or something? I don't see a useful endgame if the dumbing down is on purpose

I read up on a theory that's been going around since the 1960s that the purpose of public schooling wasn't to help kids "follow their dreams" or provide a platform to get into college and better themselves like we'd always been led to believe. No, in fact, the theory goes that public schooling was actually designed to make most students fail and then shuffle off to factories and other miserable blue-collar jobs once they hit age 18, if they aren't already on the street doing drugs and crime already.

The only kids who seem to get anywhere at the end of public schooling are those who are very intelligent, hard-working, and pushed by their parents to go onto college, whereas many kids don't have those three things.

The only thing public schooling has really accomplished seems to be that most of society is literate, and even that is questionable at times. In other areas, they unfortunately seem to be part of the problem of the "school-to-prison pipeline" many kids stuck in poverty and minority communities deal with.

Google. People have access to more information than any other point in history, yet they’re dumb as hell. It’s because they Google to answer a question rather than actually reading a book and researching to educate themselves. Their “knowledge” comes from other internet dummies.

reply

is this both a pro and con? I mean, if I don't know how to fix my washer, I can google, do it, and forgot how again. that is a plus for me at the time. But, yes, maybe this action, overall, leads to less functioning brain work.

I like having instant access to knowledge and it benefits me much every day, but I wonder if I am getting dumber?? How would I know? :D

reply

All kidding aside, the Democrats have been dumbing people down for decades. Just look at the education system in the US.

Obey, conform and depend on the government. This is real.

reply

for what purpose do you think? what is the goal?

reply

Keeping power. When people are dependent, they are trapped and doomed to perpetuate the system.

reply

And civil war?

reply

Who knows? People will either rise up or lay down.
