3 things we need on this site

1. Like/Dislike buttons

2. An option that automatically quotes other comments when we reply to them

3. A lot fewer easily offended snowflakes.

reply

We can retire the term "snowflakes." This is 2021.

Are you serious? It applies more now than ever. I’ve never seen a bigger bunch of whiney crybabies offended by every little thing than in the last couple of years.

reply

^^

reply

It was always a stupid term, and reached the point of overuse five years ago. If you wish to have your posts taken seriously, find a better word.

reply

Word still works. I’ll stop using it when people stop being snowflakes.

But out of curiosity, what term would you use to define easily-offended whiners who can’t deal with life?

reply

Just call them "whiners." Or maybe "self-entitled whiners" would be more descriptive.

reply

Nah. Term is perfect.

Snowflake: A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.

reply

I would answer, but currently lying in the fetal position in my safespace.

I hope you have your Alex Baldwin Coloring Book:

They should add new pages on firearm safety and mass produce it for college campuses. Filming Tip #1 "Do not shoot your director or cinematographer."

reply

Only $10.

reply

Imagine whining and crying about straw man "snowflakes"

reply

Number 1 would be fine.

More movie talk! Or just talk on anything artistic.

This place is starting to imitate FB

reply

You mean Meta?

reply

Wastebook. One of the biggest time-wasters and invaders of privacy ever conceived.

reply

Zuckerberg should be made illegal.

reply

No politics (apart from the designated board).

reply

It really would be great if that one rule were strictly enforced.

reply

I'm afraid #3 is unavoidable in this day and age. Heck, we had those even when IMDB still had boards, and that was way before the 2010s!

reply

Sadly true.

reply

i'm sorta in favour of #1, though i think dislike buttons might be ... not too good. i dunno. there's enough pissiness and bullying and animosity in the internet world as it is. dislike buttons seem like a conduit for more of the same, maybe. not to sound like a hippie or anything, but it seems to me like a recipe for jerkiness. maybe.

i don't really see the need for automatic quotes. when you respond to someone here, the replies are nested. quoting seems redundant, no?

reply

yeah

Please find another site. I don't like any of your suggestions. Likes and dislikes would prevent honest discussions since people would be afraid of getting dislikes. People who can't figure out how to copy/paste comments from other posts need to find another site.

Well we found one of the reasons why I posted #3.
