So what do you think will happen to Alec Baldwin?

I doubt murder charges since it was an accident. Probably "gross negligence".

reply

Unless he was directly responsible for the props, nothing. He’ll have to live with the fact that he accidentally killed a colleague though and that’s a life sentence of sorts.

reply

I wonder how her husband and kids feel about Alec Baldwin then.

reply

Baldwin and Hutchins’ husband were seen consoling each other and embracing so I would assume he accepts that it was a terrible, tragic accident.

reply

I'm sure the husband is going to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin. Baldwin was in charge on that set even if his intent wasn't to kill her.

reply

Baldwin was an executive producer, so far from “in charge”.. an EP is not much more than a financier.

I guess time will tell but my instinct is that Baldwin himself will face no charges.

reply

It's all still too early. He won't face murder charges because intent wasn't there.

I'm betting negligence against Baldwin's part for keeping an unsafe and toxic workplace.

Apparently there were reports of workers complaining of unsafe conditions. They even stage a protest hours before this happened.

Very interesting story from a legal perspective. I wonder how that works under criminal law. If someone fires a gun and kills someone when they thought it was unloaded, they escape criminal penalty. But the person who put actual rounds in cartridge likely will face murder charge even if they didn't fire the gun. Such a fascinating scenario. It's kinda like the Manson murders where Manson wasn't even present at murder scene, yet he was charged with murder.

reply

a lot of murderers are "not present" , those using bombs mostly

as you say the real guilty person here is whoever loaded that gun.

reply

He'll probably start choking people in the street when they make jokes at him about it. I mean that's definitely coming.

reply

Yep!

🤨

reply

Yeah. He seems like an angry douche. He reminds me of Axl Rose from Guns and Roses. Both are entitled divas and throw temper tantrums in public.

reply

He is intentionally taunted by shitty paparazzi journalist for reactions they can share on TMZ and the like. This is a powder keg waiting to blow.

reply

Nothing. There are people put in place so these terrible accidents never happen. Yet it still happened, those people are going to get their pants sued off. Alec was at the end of the line, assured the weapon was safe.

reply

No murder charges, possible manslaughter. Several people were criminally negligent during this clusterfuck, I have no idea how many of them will be charged with anything, or what they'll be charged with.

I expect Baldwin to spend the rest of his life paying lawyers to defend himself from lawsuits, through negligence as a producer and failure to follow standard film industry gun safety protocols, he's put himself in a terrible legal position. AND the insurance probably won't cover the money lost on the production because of all the criminal negligence, so his career as a producer is over as of now. His career as an actor may survive, but he won't be offered any prime roles for a long time and he'll have to take any job going to pay his legal bills.

reply

Reminds me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_Zone_accident

Baldwin's case is different of course, probably worse, not in terms of the loss of life of course, but that it was a result of more direct action (firing a gun at someone) as opposed to a helicopter accident.

Baldwin's life is over. He was a producer as well as just an actor on the set. I don't see how he can recover from this.

reply

I disagree. I think he will recover from this and continue to work. This appears to be an accident. Although, I'm sure the widow will file a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin (even if he didn't intend to kill her).

reply

You may be right. Time will tell.

reply

If his intent was to kill her then he would get the OJ Simpson-style treatment.

Hollywood tends to forgive accidents. Cold-blooded murders? Not so much.

reply

Nothing. He is Hollywood elite. In the end, he will have only moderate legal bills and a full pass. In fact, one of his next movies will earn him an award.

reply

I don't know, but such events reduce several years of a person's life.

reply

he will have to live with the memory and repercussions of it for the rest of his life
