Have you ever been to a Comic-Con?
If yes, did you like it?
shareDozens! Love βem!
One time, a young boy dressed as a Storm Trooper walked past with his mother and I said, βarenβt you a little short for a Storm Trooper?β
NO...I HATE MY OWN KIND.
sharePalm Springs had a several light weight ones before finally having a nice big, traditional one in the convention center. It was great. Got to talk to Michael Golden, artist for Micronauts, which was great.
Then the guy that ran the whole thing got a divorce and the whole thing died the next year with two limp competing conventions.
One thing is for sure, there is no need for more than a half day of attendance at these sort of things.
I went to Texas Frightmare, which is similar but horror themed, a couple of years ago and it was great.
shareTalked to Claudio Fragasso, Tom Savini, Adrienne Barbeau and got a high five from the guy who plays Shaggy.
Oh, also met the guy who drove the truck at the end of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I don't recall attending a fan convention of any kind. Just not my thing, I guess.
shareNo, too crowded for my liking, Comic Con is packed in New York
I've done about 8 Horror Movie Marathons...Those were really awesome but they shut down a while ago because of the Bug...Hopefully they start doing them again, we met writers, special effects guys and stars
and we could buy posters, etc.
Great times but it's been a couple years!
I went to one in my city in 2013 or 2014. It was a small one, by California standards. Norman Reedus was there, Chris Hemsworth was there, Charlie Hunnam was there, and probably a lot of other people that are slipping my mind. I think those were the three big celebs, though. It was pretty fun. My girlfriend and I bought a lot of very cool memorabilia, and enjoyed seeing some really cool cosplay.
I remember riding the elevator up in the parking garage, with a young mother and daughter going down on their way out, and they told us that Chris Hemsworth was charging $100 for an autograph. Kinda soured us on wanting to approach Thor.
I have been in a couple of Comic-con or SW Celebrations. In Essen or London I had the chance to get a photo with Mark Hamill (among others) being Mark a hero of my childhood. But at the same time I thought why to pay 150-200 β¬ just for one picture.
Of course everything is business but these prices are really a little bit high...
You'd think celebs would show gratitude to their fans by not taking advantage especially if they're rich. Hemsworth is worth $130 million.
I was able to get an autographed photo of Adam West and Burt Ward for about $3 when I was a kid.
WOW, 3 bucks!
My how things have changed
That's cool, tell me you held onto it!!
Yes, I still have it. I was a big fan.
shareGreat
Frame it and hang it proudly
The old Batman show and movie were great campy fun classics and it might be worth some big bucks, not that you'd want to sell it (I wouldn't)
I never thought about selling it.
I treasured my Batman raincoat which came with accessories like boots, umbrella, sweater, cap with bat ears and decoder ring. I wish my parents had taken a photo.
That would be worth some cabbage right now!
I sold my OJ Simpson autographed football for 75 bucks back in the mid-90s
That bought a ton of beer and it was worth it
