Do any of you play video games?
Just wondering
shareYeah. Not as much as I used to but I play a couple of hours whenever I get the chance. It's a really good stress reliever for me
shareNot since I was a teenager.
sharei'm going to revisit wolfenstein3d on steam. it was banned in germany for a long time. maybe ill get a newer version, the graphics make my eyes hurt.
shareNo, I used to as a kid but these controllers today (we used to call them 'joysticks' ๐!) seem terribly complicated...I will watch others play, it looks fun, I'm just not interested in getting involved
Modern video games are really amazing though! I remember the neighbor kid where I grew up getting 'Pong,' that was late 70s and was super cool at the time๐
It was just basically ping-pong where you paddled a single dot back and forth...40 years ago that shit blew our minds
When I was a kid, I called them "joysticks" too and other kids would look at me weird. I seriously thought I was the only one who called it that. Everyone else just called it a "controller".
shareI think I'm older than you, in the early 80s they were always 'joysticks' but I was never a big video game guy, I bailed out after The Commodore 128 ๐
shareMaybe it was called a joystick because it first looked like this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/33/Atari-2600-Joystick.jpg/1280px-Atari-2600-Joystick.jpg and then by the time it got to the early 90s, they changed the term because it was no longer a stick.
shareThat's pretty much all it was, later versions came with a fancier base or handle but it was always just the one red button for blowing stuff up
The term joystick comes from aviation.

This year really only played the new Resident Evil and Hitman
shareYep. I bought an old console in order to play 4 Assassin Creed games and GTA 5. It took me three years to finish only two games and I'm about to start GTA 5.
shareGTA 5 is fun. I don't really play video games, but when a new GTA game comes out I will play it everyday till I finish it.
shareIt normally takes me a year to finish a GTA game. I end up spending time by blowing up cars, running people over, engaging in police chases, vandalizing, mugging, watching the sunset and exploring different neighborhoods instead of only focusing on beating the levels.
shareHey, there's nothing wrong with that.
