Rock music’s greatest frontwoman

Out of this list (which excludes girl vocal groups) who do think is the best frontwoman in rock music?

Amy Lee (Evanescence)
Ann Wilson (Heart)
Annie Lennox (Eurythmics)
Belinda Carlisle (The Go-Go’s)
Beth Ditto (Gossip)
Bjork (The Sugarcubes)
Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders)
Courtney Love (Hole)
Debbie Harry (Blondie)
Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries)
Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine)
Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane, Starship)
Gwen Stefani (No Doubt)
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Joan Jett (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts)
Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
Kate Pierson (The B52s)
Shirley Manson (Garbage)
Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxie & the Banshees)
Skin (Skunk Anansie)
Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac)
Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles)
Tarja Turunen (Nightwish)

Personally my pick would be Debbie Harry, she might not be the best vocalist on the list but in terms of charisma and influence I think she’s hard to beat.

Feel free to mention any I’ve forgotten.

My pick are mostly the same as yours

Annie Lennox
Deborah Anne Dyer OBE aka Skin
Shirley Manson
Taylor Momsen
Amy Lee
Janet Gardner
Diet Cig is more indie rock, but I do like Alex Luciano as well

I do agree that Debbie Harry was an amazing front woman.

Absolutely there is no right or wrong answer which is why I was interested to see who everyone else admires.

I'm gonna add a few more names that have yet to be mentioned, if you don't mind ...
Johnette Napolitano - Concrete Blonde
Margo Timmins - Cowboy Junkies
Tracey Thorn - Everything But the Girl
Hope Sandoval - Mazzy Star
Martha Davis - The Motels
Patti Smith - Patti Smith Group
Orinda Sue "Rindy" Ross - Quarterflash
Marie Fredriksson - Roxette
Cherie Currie - The Runaways
Aimee Driver - Scars on 45
Patty Smyth - Scandal (Patty is now married to John McEnroe)
Harriet Wheeler - The Sundays
Aimee Mann - 'Til Tuesday
finally, a shout-out to Cyndi Lauper - Blue Angel (I bought their one and only album when it was released in 1980)

As for the question itself, sorry, but in my opinion that is an unanswerable question.

Patti Smith is another person who completely crafted her sound, her art, out of her own creative imagination.
Nothing appealing about that chick unless you like someone who flings a finger in your face and says - if you don't me, get the eff outta my way.

reply

Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxie & the Banshees)

The woman is an 100% total bad ass. No one like her.

reply

I do! 😊

reply

No,I mean there’s no one like her. 😆

If you mean “I do” like saying yes in a wedding ceremony, I would say “I do” to her also.

reply

Oh 😂

I thought you had missed an s on likes. Classic miscommunication! Yes she is certainly unique.
