What's the infatuation with cars?

Cars are simply glorified butt movers. They move your rear-end from here to there. They can only move in 4 directions. Why do you need a Lamborghini to drive 25 mph (40 kph) through downtown? What's the point of driving obsolete 60 year old cars? How can anybody enjoy driving when so much time is spent in traffic?

Traffic? LOL.
That depends on where u live.

I have open roads in front of me and a wild Mustang underneath.

One of my very favorite Jay Leno's Garage posts. The 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Kompressor.

I'm from Automobile Central (SE Michigan) but I've always been an iconoclast, so I've always compared owning a car to owning an old paint splattered hammer, (which I do). As long as it does what it's supposed to do, what's all I care about.
But I don't mind being around Car enthusiasts and might be fun to be involved in a Restoration, or if $$ wasn't an issue I wouldn't object to having a decent rig, but I'm pretty utilitarian when it comes to cars.

Machines are so cool! I am obsessed with Mini Coopers, I don't know why I like them so much but every time I see one I want to hop inside and push buttons, I love how little they are and how fast they go.

I have a 2009 Mini Cooper with a rare paint job and because of the style it doesn't depreciate in value that much because there are lots of mini collectors. I like a lot of little cars, maybe because I feel more a part of the car.

'I like a lot of little cars'

You should take a spin in a Dutton or a Caterham 7 or a Lotus Spider.

I believe Jeremy Clarkson made a point about why people love cars (or any vehicles really). Some cars just have Soul.

However these days with the amount of traffic and congestion, public transport is looking more appealing everyday.
