FILM
Rebecca (1940) - "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again."
To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) - For the children, Gregory Peck, the music and the atmosphere.
Three Days Of The Condor (1975) - Just about the perfect conspiracy film.
The Remains of the Day (1993) - How being a decent chap and a good fellow doesn't always work.
Freeway (1996) - Young Reese Witherspoon in beast mode is magnificent.
Meet Joe Black (1998) - It's too long but this is such a beautiful film.
Persuasion (2007) - My favourite romantic film which is as close to perfect as it can be.
Maleficent (2014) - Dazzling eye candy from start to finish.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) - Daisy Ridley owns this most entertaining action film.
TV SERIES & MINI SERIES
Upstairs, Downstairs (1971-75) - Okay it looks like crap but the story lines are often very good.
Fawlty Towers (1975-79) - John Cleese was a comedy genius.
Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister (1980-87) - Another example of English comedy genius.
Brideshead Revisited (1981) - Atmosphere, music, settings and very depressing actually.
Agatha Christie's Poirot (1989-2011) - The lows are still good and the highs are exceptional.
Middlemarch (1994) - An excellent adaptation of a great novel.
Pride and Prejudice (1995) - Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth are a very good pairing.
Our Mutual Friend (1998) - Dickens really knew how to get inside his characters minds.
Wives and Daughters (1999) - A widower and his 17 year old daughter get caught up in events.
Perfect Strangers (2001) - The first two episodes are brilliant but the final episode not so much.
The Lost Prince (2003) - Like Perfect Strangers another very good mini-series from Poliakoff.
Bleak House (2005) - Dickens dishes out the misery as only Dickens can.
Jane Eyre (2006) - Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens are also a very good pairing.
Oliver Twist (2007) - Not perfect but some very good casting in this mini-series.
In Treatment (2008-10) - An at times riveting series about psycho-therapy.
