What Do You Watch On YouTube?

What specific channels do you watch? And besides specific channels, how/what do you search for?

How do you find new things to check out?

reply

I try to search for videos of people having psychotic episodes in public and stuff like this:

reply

I enjoy the public freak outs and street fights

Also, lots of music videos and comedy movie or stand up clips

reply

One of my faves is the good old "bully gets owned" or "Instant Karma"

Those are fun.

reply

Ooooh yes saw ALL of these

Except for good music, you both just nailed the only two things I watch:

Street fights and public freak outs!

Nice

earlier this year, i got into watching short films, and dove into a pair of channels on yt: dust for sci-fi, alter for horror. the miss to hit ratio was fairly high, as you'd expect...there's a lot of amateurish, film student stuff on there. but a lot of it was fun, and almost all of them were short. and i found some legitimately great things in there...all imo, of course.

other than that, i really only faithfully watch the red letter media guys. 7 when i watch a newish film, i'll go looking at some of the reviewers - kermode, breakfast all day, etc - if i'm interested in hearing what other people had to say about it.

reply

Mostly history, movie and gaming related channels. I have cut out most of the political stuff, even the better channels that tried to be reasonable and fair, IMO, which has been good for my mental health.

Other than Red Letter Media, I don't watch the more popular movie reviewers. By that I mean the ones with 1 million or more subscribers. I watch channels like Good Bad Flicks that have decent sized followings, but aren't that big. The humor is a little more offbeat I guess instead of the sarcastic style you tend to see in most of the bigger reviewer channels.

WE SEEM TO HAVE SIMILAR TASTES IN YOUTUBE CONTENT.

DO YOU WATCH MINTY COMEDIC ARTS?

reply

Yes, I do actually. Funny guy.

reply

I say "watch", because I'm not talking about audio stuff, especially listening to songs, specific albums, etc..

For example, do you check out concerts? If so, do you check out concerts you've seen already to re-live an experience, do you look for concerts by bands you love but haven't seen? Do you ever look at concerts of bands you've never seen anywhere (real life or online)?

I usually prefer things I haven't seen, unless I can't think of anything, or if I'm busy around the house and not able to pay attention. I really love interviews and documentaries, usually more than concerts, because I've probably listened to them a million times already. I know I've seen a handful of great stuff I've seen from things that I've specifically searched for, or things that jump out at me, usually on Page 1. ... I subscribe to a lot of channels, especially since YouTube seems to place the channels you watch the most at the top.

I would love to concentrate on chronology. On things I read at a site like newspapers.com, I usually start with a person who fascinates me, start with a year, and go backwards year by year, and see chart the changes in my head, as well as saving it all.

What specific channels do you watch? And besides specific channels, how/what do you search for? I know Rick Beato is really popular, but after a few days, I never saw a video, and not sure why. 99% of what I listen to is from the 60/70s, which is what he seems to concentrate on, and I agree with him on a few things, and think he's a really nice and cool guy just for all the free content he gives away, but I don't know why I don't go back.. I should probably look at my YouTube history just to see any possible trends, or possibly certain things (not channels) I had been searching for, and something I should continue since there could be a lot of new uploads in a few months.

I also have a list of about a dozen of people I'll search, and filter it out of course to see the latest stuff, sometimes expanding it

Iron Maiden and Motley Crue have put on some badass shows (I've never seem Maiden live but The Crue is a solid show)

I like seeing virtual walking tours in various cities and live concerts. Prowalk Tours channel is really cool but there are a bunch of different channels. I was watching two knowledgeable guys explore the Pyramids of Giza from the comfort of my home. AmusementForce channel is a great way to watch a one-minute roller coaster ride without waiting in line for 45 minutes. I'll also check out product reviews and home repair how-to videos.

reply

Thanks for the reminder.. I used to check out a lot of tours from all over the world, but just forgot about it, probably because I keep switching accounts for the free trial to avoid commercials.

reply

Mostly music videos and listen to songs.
