Food you've never tried

Is there a popular food that you have never eaten? For whatever reason, you've just never gotten around to tasting it.

For me, it's peanut butter.

I keep meaning to buy a jar but I never remember to. Every so often it will pop in my head, but I've still never tasted it and experienced for myself why it's so popular πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

reply

I don't think there's a food I haven't tried, unless its not available in the US.

reply

Sweet T!
I always love your input, I have the feeling and good sense that tells me you are a Lady to know

Do you find sushi to be super gross like I do?

reply

No I love sushi, my favorite is thinly sliced white fishes, Halibut, Sea Bass, Red Snapper...with a little lemon.

reply

That sounds really gross but if I was hanging out with you I'd be all 'oh, this is some tasty raw fish babe!' lolπŸ˜‚

reply

I'd give you the spicy tuna roll...Thats the starter sushi:)

reply

I have no idea why that sounded sexy but it did

reply

Mushrooms. Their consistency always grossed me out it would be like eating an eraser. FYI excluding a couple of magic mushroom trips last century.

reply

There are a lot of "food fads" and I don't find any of them appealing. Especially the trend towards "extra spicy" items.

The latest fad (in the U.S.) is the chicken sandwich. I like chicken sandwiches, but not the varieties that the restaurants are pushing today. It seems they are obligated to make everything "spicy" or "hot." Wendy's has the "JalapeΓ±o Popper Chicken Sandwich," which I wouldn't order if they paid me. I can't fathom how such a thing would be popular, but there must be some demand for it if they are advertising it.

reply

I tried that Popeye's chicken sandwich last week, it was ok, hard to see what all the fuss is about

reply

Not interested in eating amphibians or reptiles - only if I was really starving in the truest sense of the word would I ever consider eating them.

reply

I tried snake and gator a couple of times, both were very good

They were heavily fried though and nearly anything fried is pretty good

reply

Shark. I hear shark fin soup is delicious, but I don't want to have it.

reply

Awful for the shark though πŸ˜•

reply

Mako shark steak is delicious.

reply

Never heard of it.

reply

I've had Shark fin and I regret it. It was over 25 years ago and I still feel badly. Sharks are one of my favourite animals, and I'm okay with eating animals, but killing an animal just for one part makes me really sad.

reply

Did it taste good?

reply

Honestly, from what I recall it had a mild taste to it. Wasn't spectacular or anything.

reply

Humans killing sharks for average food.

reply

Sharks kill humans for average food if you think about it

reply

But they eat the whole thing. If I die by shark, you bet your ass I'd want to be completely finished.

reply

Yeah, the fin soup thing is a damn shame, I saw a doc about it once

Japanese fishermen haul them in, slash off the fins and toss them back mortally wounded

Pretty horribleπŸ‘Ž

reply

Was this the one?https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0856008/

reply

Might have been!

I fish and hunt, I really enjoy these activities but the thought of wrecking an animal for 20 ounces of meat and tossing the rest is unsettling

Luckily, the guys I head out with are responsible types

reply

There was a sequel to that documentary and the director drowned while shooting. Only 37 years old.

reply

The sharks surely got him, yikes!

reply

I eat only kosher so I never tried lobster, bacon and a lot of other kind of non-kosher food.

reply

Bacon is downright disgusting. Strips of fat with a few streaks of meat running through it, loaded with salt and fried in grease. Nasty stuff.

reply

Yummy!πŸ₯“πŸ˜‹

reply

You bet it is!

reply

Bacon-Lettuce-Tomato with plenty of Mayo is THE summertime sandwichπŸ‘

Durian. It's this stinky fruit that is eaten in Asia and banned in public. It smells like crap but it's supposed to taste good.

Unless you have a peanut allergy, you definitely need to have peanut butter. Reese's peanut butter cups are my favorite way to enjoy peanut butter.

reply

Banned in public πŸ˜… .... yeah, I don't want to try that either!

reply

Durian is very tasty, but very smelly.

reply

I have to try this. It sounds impossible for your nose to hate something and your tongue like it.

reply

Kimchi is also like that, though not extremely pungent.

reply

I like the aroma and taste of kimchi. The only problem with eating garlic is that everybody around you can smell it but that's a small price to pay for immense flavor.

reply

I love kimchi ! Yes, it's very flavorful and spicy, although I've never noticed a strong garlic odor or taste. I used to eat large amounts of it years ago when I had a Korean neighbor who kept me well supplied.

reply

I thought I saw frozen durian at a local Korean grocery store but I don't think you can get it fresh. They grow it in Hawaii so it might be worth trying if I ever go to Hawaii. I knew this guy who would guy to Hawaii every year for vacation.

reply

The first time I tasted durian, it was as icecream, which was pretty good. But the candy and cookies I had afterwards tasted like garlic.

reply

Fig Jam

reply

That is good stuff
