The most gold medals preferably in the most iconic events.

reply

The most medals overall - nothing wrong with silver and bronze.

reply

Yeah, they're not gold.

Question is are the medals really made of pure gold?/
I think it is important to know we aren't just in it to gain medals. The athletes are in it to prove their own abilities after years of hard work and to gain some fame for putting their all into something and that this is their moment.

reply

No, today’s medals are only 1.34% solid gold (helpful Andy).

reply

Gold because if you ain't 1st, you're last.

reply

Lame. One winner everyone losers. Doesn't make sense.

If country A won one gold medal and country B won 30 bronze medals - which country has had the most successful Olympics?

reply

Country A.

If Tampa Bay won 2 Stanley Cups and Arizona made the final 20 years in a row and don't win, wouldn't you rather be a Tampa fan?

apples and oranges

Volleyball

it's not always clear, i guess, but i'd put more weight on gold.

if one nation won ten gold & another won 5 silver & 5 bronze, i wouldn't say they've done the same thing.

reply

America just won a gold medal in fencing, Women's Individual Foil.
