Anyone here that prefers winter over summer?

It seems most people like summer. I don't. I like freezing, cold, snow, etc. All that good stuff. My favourite part is the winter scenery with the snow and being inside the house with fireplace on. The coziness of it all. I would be happy at a place like Alberta or even Northwest Territories. I'm an introvert and I like seeing less people around in wintertime.

I hate heat and the disgusting humidity.

Here in Miami, summer is the wet season and winter (if you want to call it that) is the dry season.
Therefore, I much prefer winter when I can turn off the A/C and open the widows.
My checkbook prefers winter as well, since my electricity bill goes way, way down.

reply

And here in Sweden, it is the other way around.
You need to keep your house warm in the winter months, so that is when our electricity bills go up.

reply

I've been in my house for 18 years and I finally realized that my incredibly inefficient electric ceiling heat is, well ...

... incredibly inefficient and expensive. I can't necessarily afford to upgrade it to something better, but I'm afraid I can't afford NOT to. Wish I had done so much sooner when I had the dough, but the bill never concerned me until recently.

What about the D/C?

reply

I don't really mind summer, but my brother hates it.
He's got a bad case of hay fever and doesn't like heat either.

reply

Me πŸ‘

reply

God no. Where I am, it's cold most of the year and I'm sick to death of it. Also it snows too much here. Winter has its charms, I wouldn't mind it so much if it was shorter and more mild where I am, but heat is what I really love, and the hotter the better. Hate being cold all the time.

reply

This guy right here. I am miserable in the summer. I can't wait until we get weather that's so cold, by the time my spit hits the ground, it shatters.

reply

i will take the most brutal punishing winter day over summer every time.

i hate the endless, grinding, miserable heat of summer. every second, every day filled with pounding, pounding heat.

some people love it. great. they're entitled to their preferences.

as far as i'm considered, summer and everything associated with it can die die die.

reply

do we have any bc/pacific north-west people here?

the temps there are insane right now.
a lot of people don't have a/c in that region because it's generally not needed.

reply

I live in Europe (Budapest, latitude ~47 N), and the max. temperature has been between 90-100 ℉ for about two weeks straight now. At night it cools down to 75. This is quite unusual here, and I have to admit it takes it's toll on me, too.

But apart from the current weather, I like summer more. Daylight lasts longer, and I can do more stuff outside. I only like winter because of Christmas.

reply

do you have a/c? is a/c standard there, or is it not generally needed?

reply

It is widespread. I do not have it at home, but we use one in the office.

reply

BC here. On Vancouver Island. Alot of places shutting down due to heat. Never seen this before.

reply

do you have a/c in your home?

i'm not wrong in saying that most people don't bother with it there because it usually never gets so hot there, right? or at least not often enough for extended periods to make a/c worthwhile?

reply

Yes, thankfully I have a/c. Just had it repaired last summer thankfully.

It's unheard of to reach 40 degrees Celsius here!

reply

Winter is depressing here in the midwest so I'd say I prefer summer. It does get insanely hot were I live and by the time summer is over you are ready for fall.

reply

Agree - winters in Ohio are usually dreary - grey and damp. I love summer, being outdoors, even when it's hot, and longer daylight hours.

reply

I enjoy the activities of summer more such as being outside, gardening and sports, but I don't like the heat. Once it hits 80 or above it's too hot for me. I don't mind the cold of winter at all and actually prefer the colder weather, but I don't like snow covered or icy roads nor can I do my gardening.
