I'm still devastated that he died, but I don't feel as sorry for him as I used to when I learned that he had decided to stick with his wife after years of seeing how absolutely crazy she was.

What I mean is that I used to think that his wife had basically snapped one night and killed him without warning. But stories started coming out that she was not only batshit crazy throughout their entire marriage, he had basically enabled her. I believe that because I saw an obscure TV interview he had made in the 1980s on some show about "troubled" couples and he made it sound as if he was entirely to blame for their marriage getting rocky. When I saw that clip, that's when I knew that they were in some kind of weird codependent relationship, of which he was a willing participant.

Bobby Driscoll (1937-1968)

another child actor who didn't make it.

Johnny Depp and Kevin Costner, two guys who were way too good for Hollywood and torn down as a result.

Christopher Walken, because he really made a mess of his legacy with his whole shtick about how he was a song and dance man. He was very cringy on Peter Pan! Live and not in a "so bad, it's good way," but in a way where he looked very sad and pitiful.

Sal Mineo, a talented actor in his physical prime (37), who was stabbed in the heart by a mugger at his home. The mugger panicked and fled the scene without getting a dime, emphasizing the senselessness of the crime. My closest brother died at the age of 39, so I'm sure that plays a part in my empathizing.

Because of the way he died or something else?

a long time alcoholic. a depressive personality. a recluse at the end. his death was avoidable if he just called for help.

reply

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure because think he fought in WWII and there might have been something there too

Michael J. Fox, by everything I've read a truly nice guy.

John Candy

why? he had a happy and a solid family life. he unfortunately died suddenly and prematurely.

reply

I feel sorry for him because I don't think he was as happy as one might think. I've read that he had an addiction to food due to depression and panic attacks. And he was ridiculed for his weight. Sure it was a health problem and it killed him, but that's no excuse to make fun of someone.
