What's the longest film you've seen in one sitting?

Excluding quick bathroom breaks (because when you gotta go, you gotta go) what's the longest film you've seen without having to watch in parts?

For me it's either "Gone With The Wind" or "Zack Snyder's Justice League". Both the run times are very similar. I've considered watching "Dr. Mabuse the Gambler" which is almost 5 hours, but so far I haven't seen it.

Les misérables (1934), 4 hours and 39 minutes.

I appreciate anyone who can focus on a movie that long especially during a black and white film from the 30s. Kids these days can't sit through a 2 hour movie in colour that came out last week.

gone with the wind
ben hur
amadeus
the irishman
spartacus
schindler's list

reply

Did you hate any of them? I liked them all but Spartacus would be last for me.

reply

i would put amadeus and the irishman at the bottom of the list. ben hur would be the best of the list.

reply

The Irishman was a great movie up until the 2:45 mark. Then it really started to drag.

reply

ben hur is the best movie over three hours, imo

reply

Magnolia is a top 3 movie to me and that's 3+ hours. I love that movie.

reply

I guess The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. I've never been able to entirely sit through Gone with the Wind or Lawrence of Arabia.

reply

Lord of the Rings is still a pretty long film to sit through but at least the action scenes make it feel shorter than Lawrence did Arabia and Gone With the Wind.

reply

I actually almost dozed off during the battle scenes near the end.😴😪

reply

It's known for having too many endings.

reply

yeah it was comedic how many times they ended the movie then kept adding another scene just to add another ending in. went on for a good half and hour or more and must have been at least 10 fake endings before it actually ended the way i remember it when i was a kiddo watching it

reply

It's like they wanted to make it the longest because it was the final film.

reply

LotR:RotK Extended Edition clocks in at 4 hours 11 minutes but if you cut out at beginning of the end credits it's only about 1 hour 45.

Gettysburg (1993) 4 hours 14 minutes. I saw it in a theater when it was first released. There was an intermission.

reply

I've never seen a movie in the theatre that was so long that it needed an intermission. And I've seen some long movies in the theatre.

Never understood why "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" was so long. The story wasn't deep enough to warrant that runtime.

I've never seen it but hear it's great.
