Horror Movie Recommendations

Hi all,

I am searching for some well made scary horror movies that don't involve repetitive jump scares.

Any suggestions?

Hereditary is the best horror film from the last ten years.
I really liked It Follows also . It’s creepy and fun and not as dread laden as Hereditary

She Creature. Good old fashioned spooky movie. And as in all her movies Carla Gugino is great in it.

In Ireland, two carnies abduct a mermaid and decide to take her to America. In their sea route, the seductive and mysterious creature reveals an uncontrollable darker side.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've seen some of them but I'll take a look at the others.

Why would you be sick today from the Covid vaccination?

reply

Session 9 is amazing.

Also watch Dog Soldiers.

All of these are top notch in my book:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Shock (1977)
The Beyond (1981)
Suspiria (1977)
The Woman in Black (1989)
Zombie (1979)
The Shining (1980)
Pieces (1982)
Who Can Kill a Child (1976)

reply

Have you seen the remake of the woman in black?

reply

Yes I have but I prefer the original. I love horror but most of it just doesn’t frighten me. This movie, on the other hand, really gets under my skin.

pieces is an obsession with me. it is the most ridiculous & re-watchable film in my books. i never get tired of it.

& i'll go along with everything else you've listed, except woman in black & who can kill, which i haven't seen. but now i will!

Society (1989). Can't help but recommend this whenever given the chance. Became and instant favourite of mine as soon as I first watched it roughly only a year ago. Seen it many times since already.

seconded!

I watched that for the first time this year at your recommendation Davidikum. I also watched it more than once. 😀

I'm going to unrecommend a horror.. The Empty Man 2020, I wanted to like this so much, but its just confusing and boring.
