Has Anyone Seen Swimming with Sharks?

Because all I could think while reading this article about Scott Rudin was--Are all big producers as abusive as Buddy? In retrospect, seems like that movie was more of documentary than fiction.

Another assistant recalled what happened when his colleague forgot to deliver a message to Rudin from the head of a studio. “That’s not good, right? The reaction that happened afterwards, I had never seen anything like it,” he said. “He picks up one of those big iMac computers the see-through ones, and starts chucking them, one by one, across the room at the assistants. Not at a wall; at the assistants. We were all dodging them. At which point he fires everybody.”

“There was a permanence to what he did,” he continued. “There’s something you carry with you in your life after that, a distrust of people, maybe. When you know what a person will really treat another person like, and you see it … I don’t know, it changed me.”

Yes you should watch it. It’s not a bad movie and I feel like it’s pretty accurate about Hollywood asshole producers.

I've seen it. Good film. Just curious if any other folks on here have as well. Seems like it paints a pretty accurate picture.

reply

No, but I've actually been swimming with sharks!

In the ocean. With SCUBA tanks and flippers and stuff.

Me too!

I got about 10-15 feet away from a wild white-tipped reef shark in Hawaii!

Which is a generally harmless species and one which was more afraid of us than we were of it, but which looks rather like a small Great White Shark, which makes it cool.

I was about 30 feet from a small sand shark I think. My first reaction was to swim towards it, then I thought "Nah."
After one dive, the dive master asked if Dan (my dive buddy) and I had seen the 12 foot hammerhead. I replied
"What hammerhead?" He replied "The one which swam right behind you two." Yikes.

The director's career suffered for making that film. It hit too close to home for some in the industry.

I've read that. It's a real shame because he did a great job with SWS.
