Does advertising really work?
Do you see an advert and think, 'I must buy one of those.'
shareNo, unless it coincides with something I'm looking for. Let's just say I need a new refrigerator and an ad pops up, I'll pay attention to the commercial and keep that particular store in mind. I've never been subconsciously been fooled by one.
shareOh, those Golden Grahams.
Crispy, crunchy graham cereal.
Tasty breakfast treeeeeeeeat...
I'm sorry, what was the question again?
No, definitely not....never.
shareThe new Ford Bronco looks very cool and I may get one for the family this summer
The problem with advertising is it's often stupid
The Bronco adverts feature guys climbing sheer cliffs and racing around too fast on hellish roads...nothing I'm interested in doing!
Ad men go overboard a lot with the visuals
It's funny how those commercials have a disclaimer usually in small print along the bottom of the screen: "Professional driver on a closed course. Do not attempt."
I know this is done to prevent lawsuits by people who injure themselves because they were dumb enough to imitate these stunts.
No, advertising doesn't work for me. I don't see an ad and think I must buy that. But it obviously works with enough people that companies keep doing it. It's most understandable when it's a new product or a new company, but other than that, nah. Luckily, these days we have the internet and can research the item we need to buy so that we can make an informed choice. Before that, I think most of us had to rely on ads, although we could still check said item out in person to see if it met our needs.
shareAdvertising is effective, that's why it's been a thing for over 100 years.
shareArtwork of Hot girls for video game advertisements always get me to check out the game being advertised.
