Would you call the police on corporal punishment of a child?

Example, you have a new family move in next door.

You often hear the father using his belt to lash the kids for misbehaving.

Are you calling the police?

reply

yes

reply

Lashing with a belt?
Absolutely, that's assault of a minor and I'd figure the louse was probably an angry drunk that should be questioned by Law Enforcement

reply

Let's say he isn't drunk but he believes a few lashes keeps a child in line. Nothing but red buttocks and a few tears.

reply

Hitting a kid is wrong
An adult uses logic and words, not strikes, to make a point with children

it doesn't work, anyway.

reply

Beating a kid only works if you want to create another asshole that grows up to beat their kid

It's one of those 'cycles'

reply

I got my ass beat as a kid and all it did was make me hate my father. I vowed back then that I'd never do that to my kids and I didn't and I have wonderful relationships with them. The cycle can be broken.

reply

Glad to hear you broke an ugly cycle, others have managed to as well

Thanks for sharing with us, it's good to let others know trauma can be overcome

reply

🙂

reply

Usually, but I'd make an exception if it were you on the receiving end.

reply

Oh thats good:)

reply

But that means he doesn't recieve those lashings, cause all his stories never happen anyway.

reply

Yes I would do it.

reply

I'd confront the father at first opportunity. If he was contrite, I'd play it by ear. If not, I'd call the police, and tell him so.

reply

No.

reply

Lashing with a belt, definitely. That’s a lot more serious than a spanking on the butt.

reply

Someone would say its better than a bare hand.

reply

How bad is the kid?
