It's not a martial art, more like figure skating, synchronized swimming or gymnastics, kind of a ballet-like team performance.

the two (or more) people in the ring (the referee is part of the act too) do a team performance and we are the judges by tuning in and watching the ads. one person jumps, the other catches....
they compete for popularity against the previous and the next matches of the evening.
the winning team gets the bigger storyline in the season. it does not matter who owns which belt, they are macguffins.
there is no solo performance in wrestling, it has to be synchronized or doesn't work.

I watched a clip of WWE this week and I couldn't finish it. They all lack charisma and passion.
Absolutely.
I can even deal with some of the more wild story lines of the Attitude Era. There were such talented, larger than life personalities involved that even some of the most ridiculous stuff worked for me. The in ring product was even taken seriously. People sold moves and everything wasn’t so in your face fake with people obviously working together. And, again, some of the sillier stuff in the ring was overlooked and/or acceptable because of how goddamn over the talent was.
No. It's a scripted show for entertainment purposes.
