Dumbest Things People Have Told You About Movies

Newer movies are better than older movies.

"I wont watch any movies that arent old movies"

reply

Sounds like "LetThemEatCake"

reply

I think he actually said that every movie made after 1970 is crap!

reply

Some of the film snobbery that goes on here is a bit ridiculous

Superhero and car chase movies are fun...Damn, not every movie has to be full of wisdom!

reply

Its not snobbery, the recent superhero movies do suck...and I think Batman Returns was a 7:)

reply

Batman Return was 10/10. I'm a sucker for stylish movies. All superhero movies should be oozing with STYLE!

reply

NO🙂

reply

Ha!

reply

Thats a good one.

reply

"The bigger the budget, the better the movie"...Pppfttt, hardly!!!

reply

How about those movie ads that state, "The most anticipated film of [insert year here]..." ?

Some people actually fall for this stuff, and absolutely must see the movie.

reply

THE SEQUEL IS GARBAGE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL.

reply

"It's a movie, not a documentary."

reply

Barry Jenkins, the director of "Moonlight", said that he saw "Contagion" when the Coronavirus shutdowns first happened and said it felt like he was watching a documentary.

reply

So "It's not a movie, it's a documentary"???

reply

Oh, I read your comment wrong.

reply

You know what I mean. Someone complains about a movie being improbable, historically incorrect, etc., and someone always has to come along and say, "It's a movie, not a documentary!"

reply

Yeah I hate that. It's like you have to accept 100% of all stupid plot details or none at all.

reply

But on the other hand it's also tiring to hear people whine on some stupid things that happen in stupid movies.

Like in I Care A Lot board, too many people complained that in no way the Russian mob would not wait to make sure the main character is dead when they drugged her, put her in a car, tossed the car into a lake in high speed. That's unrealistic, they say.

It's a frickin drugged woman tossed into a lake in a car! The fact that she can actually sober up, get out by kicking the rear window, while holding breath after an impact without airbags (well of course!), while in influence of drugs, after being beat up, and managed to get out alive AND WELL without any injuries is the unrealistic part ffs!

The Russian mobs that leave the scene early is actually more realistic. Geez, people!

If it's a silly action or thriller movie, it does not need to be held into scrutiny under a miscroscope. Unrealistic / improbable scenes always happen in these kind of movies. It's a movie, not a documentary.

reply

"It's a movie, not a documentary."

Sorry, but it's still a lame argument. Other parts being even more unrealistic does not make that argument more legitimate.

I adore Speed, which is a rather silly movie, but the flying bus scene is just stupid and people have every right to point that out. It's not enough to ruin the movie, though.

reply

What about when the low-grade flaws are super visible without a microscope? I Care a Lot and the mafia within are laughably bad a foolish. There is a limit to what the viewer should be required to ignore.

I hate the "It's just a movie, relax" excuse for bad film making.

reply

It's not an excuse. And not for bad filmmaking. Bad filmmaking is bad filmmaking.

Unrealistic stuffs in unrealistic movies are just that, unrealistic.

Well, it is just a movie. What else would it be? People take silly entertainment too seriously sometimes.

reply

a woman i used to work with, after seeing titanic, while telling me how much she loved it, also repeatedly reminded me that it was based on a true story.

reply

Maybe she meant the love story of Rose and Jack?

reply

bless her heart and everything, but she was a touch dim i'm afraid, and it actually was news to her that there was a ship called the titanic that sunk in the first part of the century, and she was very excited to share that new bit of info with everyone.

reply

It's not real.

reply

“All black and white movies are boring.”

And running in a close second, is “This movie sucks because it doesn’t have enough diversity.”

reply

AMEN on the idiotic diversity comment! That would be numero uno on my list!

😎

reply

The diversity one is number 1 for me.I wish the woke generation would go back to sleep already.
