What's your favorite serial killer movie?

I'm talking about real life stories of the hunt for one particular killer, or fictional serial killer movies. And why is it your favorite? The fictional ones are so unrealistic I'm sure. How likely is it that a serial killer in the real world would go about doing their thing like Michael Myers did in the Halloween movie, wearing a ghoulish mask? Or like Jason Voorhees from "Friday The 13th", carrying around an axe while wearing an old style goalie mask? One that stands out to me, was "The Deliberate Stranger", about the hunt for Ted Bundy. I also liked "From Hell" with Johnny Depp. It was about the hunt for "Jack The Ripper".

I haven't seen many, and most haven't been good.. But, "M" (original German) is a Top 50 for me in any category.. Speaking of German, there was a decent one from 2019, "The Golden Glove"

I can't think of any others I've seen. I'm sure there's some from the 70s (or before) I've seen.. I like "Dirty Harry"

i'll throw in Dear Mr Gacy

William Forsythe as Gacy is great. based on the real-life story of Jason Moss, who wrote to Gacy in an attempt to determine if there was more to be learned if one was to impersonate his typical victim.
interesting take.

Jason Moss' book was called "The Last Victim: A True-Life Journey into the Mind of the Serial Killer (1999)". Jason committed suicide in 2006.
