What are your thoughts of movies where people kill innocent people who are possessed?

I just finished watching "The Hidden" (1987) and this reminded me of the countless times I've seen a film where innocent characters are being killed because they are possessed or something similar. I have a hard time sympathizing with the hero of the movie where people are being killed by them through no fault of their own. A similar thing happens in the 2019 version of "Black Christmas" (don't watch it).

Am I out of line for feeling this way seeing how the people who are killing the innocent lives are doing it for their own protection?

reply

Don't ever watch The Minion (1998) then.

reply

I don't watch anything with Dolph.

reply

But why?

reply

Because he's shit.

reply

The Matrix presents the same moral dilemma.

reply

The Matrix is filled with so many plot holes like that. Why the heck do the Agents need to "possess" a digital representation of a person inside a virtual reality? Why would the machines kill that person (their power supply) off just because they die in the matrix?

reply

Good point! I never even thought of that. It seems that the story would not have changed significantly if the Agents didn't need to possess someone, they could've just showed up instantly.

reply

Green projectile vomit is a bitch to clean up.

reply

I know. When I killed... never mind.

reply

Collateral damage.

reply

You monster.

reply

Meh, eggs and omelettes and all that.

I'm not sure about innocent people possessed, I really can't think of any movies that I've really felt empathy to someone in that situation. What I do agree with is not watching Black Christmas (2019). It was horrible.

reply

You didn't feel that the guys being possessed in Black Christmas were unfairly being killed because they were under that stupid spell thing that they did?

reply

I said I didn't feel empathy. It might have been unfair, but that whole movie was so stupid I wanted everyone in it to die. I don't even know who I was supposed to be rooting for, hence they all needed to die.

reply

Fair enough. If you want to watch something similar that's just as stupid, The Craft: Legacy won't disappoint.

reply

I wonder which of two possessed satirical movies would do best, killing MAGA hat zombies or commie red zombies?

reply

Zombies are okay. They're already dead.

reply

Not among the deads. They're the living dead.

reply

The tagline for 90% of zombie films: How can you kill something that's already dead?

reply

The same way we do to revive a living person.

reply

I think its ok if you can't save them:)

reply

usually the possessed person is doing the devil's work.
