Let's talk about the Super Bowl !
Unless I'm missing something, no one has started a SB thread.
Predictions, anyone?

I'd like to see an interesting game. To me thats more important than who wins or loses. Lots of passing and great catches. For those of us who don't really follow football, thats all that counts.
shareMy most indelible SB memory is the year the Steelers beat the Seahawks and the refs gave Big Ben a TD on what looked like very slim evidence. A QB sneak, and I thought if you are going to award a TD in the biggest game of the year, it oughta be definitive. Yes, I was rooting for Seattle but that one seemed sketchy.
The rest of the SBs are sort of a blur where I'm either partying or the game isn't that good. But that's just me. I like sports but I don't retain a lot of details after watching games, not over the long run. Some people remember all kinds of details from games, but I don't.
I know, I'd kind of like to go back and watch some of the early patriots game's I watched. I know the kicker was amazing at some point, hitting super long distances. Really if it wasn't for me going to University of Mass Amherst at the exact time Tom Brady came on the scene I would know nothing of football.
shareI did a few days ago but it was angry
shareTom Brady gets his face punched by me
shareI know I know, but I've been here since 2000, and he's so cute:)
shareHe is not cute !
shareOh come on. He throws better than anybody ever has. He makes football exciting for those of us girls who don't give a crap. Be happy that he put that cute blond girl drinking a beer next to you in the pub.
shareHe doesn’t throw better then anyone ever has. He makes better decisions . There was a cute blond ? Was it you ?
shareIt was...but I was watching Brady throw a 40 yard pass. Come the fuck on the guy is unstoppable. His aim is like a missle.
shareHe won’t win on Sunday .
shareI wish you and I had 100 bucks. I been down this road since the beginning. No one stops Tom. He is the best thrower of all time.
shareLet me ask you this, Do you hate David Beckham? , because I kind of put them in the same category.

Well what ever. I have been watching him since day 1. I don't care how many superbowl rings he has, he's the best passer of all time. He's the best hail mary guy of all time.
shareI remember being in a bar when the snowplow guy cleared all the yard lines at the New England stadium so the kicker could get a better shot at making his field goal in a critical playoff game. One of Brady's first showcase games. Both the snowplow maneuver and Brady having success were notable at the time. He replaced the very good starting QB that year, pretty much out of nowhere.
Drew Somebody I think his name was.
Tom Brady doesn't need another Super Bowl ring.
shareWhy not?
Some people argue that dynasties in Sports is a good thing, gives everyone something they can either embrace or complain about.
Tom Brady may be the best thing that's happened for the NFL in the last two decades. He creates interest, and the longer he's successful, the more interest he creates.
As a Detroit Lions fan, I can tell you no one is interested in them. They bring nothing to the overall conversation other than abject failure that no one wants to talk about.
your funny the Lions and their trade for Goff is all they've been talking about before they decided to finally start talking about the Big game Sunday
shareI'm not that connected with NFL chat but I used to be more so.
I did hear they might deal Stafford just to give him a chance to play for a contender, which is a slap on the organization, but they deserve it.
deal is done, they got goff & Stafford's gone
shareI missed that.
Like I said, I'm not in the nexus of NFL talk.
Effing Lions are so insignificant, something major happens and it barely breaks the chat-o-sphere.
Seems like they might have given a massive bow to the NFL at large, while they look feckless.
the majority of fans think the Lions got the Better deal with those Draft picks added in
shareYeah, well, if they know what to do with them, great !
Effing both Barry and Calvin RETIRED rather than continue to strive under this regime.
Hard not to shake my head and hold my nose when it comes to the Detroit Lions.
There are other quarterbacks in the league. Brady has had more than his share of the spotlight; it's time for someone else to get some of the glory.
Some of those rings were undeserved. There is plenty of reading material about the Patriots and their cheating, if you need to be reminded.
I hate Belichick, but you are fooling yourself if you think he is the only HC or organization that has cheated. It just happend that he got caught.
As I've responded to you in the past, if someone else wants the glory it's up to them to play better. It has nothing to do with fairness or the fact that Brady has had more than his fair share of the spotlight.
Just curious, who is the someone else to get the glory who isn't? Lots of great QB's out there, but only two teams can make it to the SB. Both teams playing this year deserve to be there.
Belichick "got caught" more than once. And I used to cheer for the Patriots until Super Bowl XLVI when the Giants won in the last few seconds of the game. Instead of participating in the customary coaches' handshake at the end, I watched Belichick storm off the field. Talk about no class. And this is the type of individual held in high esteem by fans. He should have been fired years ago.
I actually stopped watching the Super Bowl about three years ago after getting tired of seeing the same handful of teams in the postseason. There's a difference between a dynasty and having a few teams monopolizing the play-offs year after year. I would like to know what truly goes on behind the scenes in the operation of the NFL. Someone should investigate, but this will never happen. There's too much money involved to challenge the status quo.
What does Belichick's behavior have to do with Brady?
Other than the Pat's, there has been a fairly good mix of teams in the Super Bowl the past 20 years. If anything is wrong with how teams make the playoffs it that those with losing season can automatically make the playoffs because they win the division when much better teams who are in stronger divisions can't. If anything should change, IMO that should.
"Birds of a feather..."
shareI can see why some people are resentful of the Pats and therefore both BB and TB, but I agree that there has been a decent mix of teams vying for the prize. Steelers and Seahawks have been good, the Niners made a comeback last year, Eagles won a Bowl not long ago, took the Chiefs a really long time to climb that mountain again, the Ravens have been good, Packers of course. Those are just off the top of my head.
