Let's talk about the Super Bowl !

Unless I'm missing something, no one has started a SB thread.

Predictions, anyone?

Lol, I have to agree with you.

I like Brady. He played at U of Michigan and had to platoon with another top athlete, iirc. And was a relatively late pick in the draft, so he just seemed to have that Joe Montana will-to-win and manage the game properly.

I'm a little surprised I don't DISLIKE him since he left a beautiful woman who had his son yet somehow felt he needed an upgrade to a super model. But I never looked into his personal life too much and can't help but admire what he has accomplished. If he was a woman we might refer to his life as a Fairy Tale.

reply

He was a backup to Drew Bledsoe for one year until Bledsoe got hurt. He was never a top tier player in college or seen that way in the draft thus he was taken in the 6th round. I think that's the most remarkable aspect of his career. The fact that he was able to develop into the best QB of all time under the right tutelage. Just imagine if he was drafted by the Lions, Browns, or Bengals? He would have been a three and out.

reply

For a while I knew some people who thought the Lions ruined Joey Harrington's career.

reply

Oh, we were chatting about it after the championship games - but it has died down since then.

It should be a great game. I want KC to win, but I think the Buc's have a very good chance for an upset.

reply

What concerns me is I think the Chiefs are clearly the better team but what's the chance of REPEATING as SB champs?
Plus it's Tom Terrific. I never hear people talk about having a cannon arm or his perfect spirals but objectively he seems to be the GOAT.
Without looking exactly at the record, I think he's LOST more SBs than most players have even been to.

reply

I'm not a Brady fan, but he is less annoying in TB than NE. I'm not sure that I think KC is the better team, but they do have Kelce, who is better than Gronk, and Mahomes who is younger and more athletic than Brady who is far more experienced than Mahomes. I think the Buc's D is better and may be the key to winning as it was two weeks ago.

Bottom line - pretty evenly matched teams and it will all boil down to who makes the most mistakes.

reply

I'm glad you said this. I used to follow the NFL a lot closer and currently don't even get ESPN and I work on Sundays, so I'm not as on top of things as I imagine. I just figured as the current champs making it back, they've gotta be favored and Mahomes is a really exciting player in the Russell Wilson mold.
Pretty sure they have the better record as well, but if it's close, might make for a great game.

reply

Bucs 27 Chiefs 24

reply

Sounds like a last minute field goal.
I caught the end of the GB/TB game and I thought the Pack might steal it away. Was fun to watch
I'll probably miss most of the SB, though, at least the first half, for sure.
Starts at 3:30 my time and I won't be home until 6:30-7:00.

reply

My prediction is that some athletes will play with the ball better than some other athletes. One team of sports people will win, not just a bowl, but a superbowl. Some fans will be sad, some will be happy.

reply

you can reread the canterbury tales.

reply

"Mattress Mack" has placed a $3.46M bet on Tampa.

reply

No idea who this person might be but we'll see.

reply

Guy in Florida who owns mattress stores. Buy a sleep number mattress from him and if the Buc's win, the mattress is free.

reply

How funny.

reply

A win win fo him. If the Buc's win - his bet covers the cost of the free mattresses and if they lose, he has all of that business to fall back on. Smart business and great PR move for him.

reply

You can say that again !

reply

A win win for him. If the Buc's win - his bet covers the cost of the free mattresses and if they lose, he has all of that business to fall back on. Smart business and great PR move for him.

reply

Predictions, anyone?

TB - 28 / KC- 21

reply

That makes two in the TB faction, (not including Mattress Mack).
I really assumed the Chiefs would be favored somewhat strongly. Guess not.

reply

Depends on the Chiefs I think. If they bring their A game they win, if they don't Tampa could come out on top. I think Mahomes and crew are ultimately unstoppable so Chiefs by 7 to 14 points.

reply

This is closer to what I was thinking, but will admit I haven't watched either team consistently this year.
As an ex-Lion, N Suh kinda pisses me off, but if he gets a ring outta this, I suppose he'll have earned it.

reply

I really don't want to see Brady win another championship. Would be nice to see Mahomes dethrone the old king.

reply

I'm on the fence. I think what Brady has done is incredible, and if he can add to it, even better.
But Mahomes and the Chiefs are a deserving bunch as well. Haven't heard anything scandalous about them and they are in the heart of America in a way, so either way, I can live with the result.

reply

Bucs by a touchdown.

reply

This is 3 for the Bucs, I believe. Seven is usually a lot if people are spotting points, so you sound pretty confident.

reply

It'll be a Brady comeback and he'll throw a Hail Mary pass with just 1 second left on the clock in the 4th! 🏈

reply

U a funny bunny XD

reply

Don't know if you watched it but if the refs were doing there job the game between the Browns and KC the Browns would have beat them. And I don't say that lightly. I hate the Browns. So go TB.

reply

Why hate the Browns?

reply

Steeler fan all my life and Browns in their division.

reply

Fair enough, but Browns are usually crap, I feel a little sorry for them.

reply

What I feel sorry for them for is that the referees stole the game from them. Had they done their job KC would not be in the Super Bowl.
