One hit wonders
Name your favs
shareStrawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday

14 year old me loved this band, especially when the lead singer began wearing catsuits for the later songs which unfortunately failed to make the UK top 40.
Alannah Myles - Black Velvet

Only one Top 40 hit in the UK, she had another minor Top 30 hit in the US along with this which reached number one there, she had continued success in Canada for a while, great artist! Deserved more worldwide hits.
This Island Earth - See That Glow

This wasn’t even a hit but it was a great 80’s tune so I’m including it anyway, it failed to make the UK Top 40 – twice!
I also loved Falco but he had two hits, as did Landscape.

Deee-Lite - "Groove is in the Heart"
shareThe problem is that a one hit wonder in one country might be very successful in another.

Split Enz: "I Got You": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiqBlKnb91A
Split Enz featured the talented Finn Brothers who went on to form Crowded House.

I always thought both Macy Playground {Sex and Candy} and The Verve Pipe [the band that didn't do "Bittersweet Symphony"] were actually talented so-called artist.
But I was pretty stupid back then. Perhaps both their "debut" albums sucked.
