Can You Read Lips?


I'm decent at it, but wish I was an expert, so I could look back on a lot of video and transcribe it.

One tip that helps is to mute the sound (since it's usually a distraction)

I reckon I could be learn. But nothing like becoming deaf to make it important as fuck.

I've read some interesting stuff over the years.. Usually in politics, or an NBA game. Sometimes it's trivial, but its still interesting. If I was more serious, I'd take notes of the things I uncover, and the things I'd like to uncover.

It takes a lot of time to guess the language, especially to distinguish within language families.

I didn’t realize how much I depend on reading lips until everyone started wearing masks.

I think all this covid masking has made a lot of people realize how much they actually do rely on lip reading.

I know the mouthing of I love you.

What annoyed me about the Seinfeld lip Reading episode is that somehow the mouthing of sweeping is mistook for sleeping. Two completely different mouth movements.

I've always wondered what the actors were actually saying in the old silent films. Did their spoken dialogue match that of the intertitles?
