Will Apple TV+ last?

I got a trial to watch Greyhound and honestly the original content on the service is really lacking. None of the movies or original series are that good and they don't have any older films or series to watch. I really don't see this service being able to last another year the way things are going. What do you think?

It's too early to really tell, but IMO it doesn't seem to be off to a good start. Apple has more money than they know what to do with so I think they will let it ride for a while even if it's not making a profit. They can afford to take a hit and give it a chance to catch on. If anything, their video store format of letting you rent movies like Amazon may let it hang on. I've noticed that some of their rentals are cheaper than Amazons or Vudu.

reply

Really? I might at least keep the app downloaded then if thats the case. I do most of my rentals through Vudu.

I don't have AppleTV but I have seen three of their shows and thought they were fantastic:

Ted Lasso
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet
The Morning Show

The thing about Apple is they have tons of money and the most loyal fans/customers of any company I can think of. I don't see them going away anytime soon.

I have heard good things about Ted Lasso. Morning SHow I thought was suppose to be bad.

Ted Lasso might be the best show I watched since COVID hit. I binged it in a few days. I had no expectations and was really surprised by its comedy and heart.

The Morning Show I actually half-watched, but my girlfriend thought it was amazing. Of the three I liked it the least.

Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet... if you love Always Sunny as I do, you'll like this. It's Sunny for the PG-rated crowd and a must-see for gamers.

they have a lot of catching up to do.

The Servant is pretty good. 2nd season coming next month. Creepy.
Greyhound was just OK. I have Apple TV only because it has no monthly charge. Just buy the box. We use it for ESPN+ to watch fights primarily. All other watching practices we conduct via sorcery.

YEs. iT will last. You don't have to be a HUGE player in this space to be a PLAYER or to have quality shows/moves.
They have zillions of dollars so they can afford it.

GOD I HOPE THEY DON'T BUY Netflix!!!!!!!!

I watched a few things on apple+ during quarantine last spring when they offered it free for a few months. There’s literally nothing, now, I care to watch. The Mariah Carey xmas show looked really bad.

I think the streaming services are going to become more bundled just like tiers of cable are. You're going to need to select an entire "tier" just to get a couple of channels you like. And more to the point some are given away as freebees too. I get Apple TV+ with my cellular plan. The next tier up includes Hulu. My cable plan also includes Netflix. I haven't watched Netflix in years but I'm sure I'm paying for it anyway.

Apple TV+ may not make the grade for the ala carte crowd but it'll live through bundled services.
