Best Singer/Actor

I know this has been asked and done before. But not for a while.

Do Music and act. Or the other way around. Many tried....most failed. Some made it, few did both really good. Who do you think did it best? Or does it best...

Will Smith had success in both. But best? Far from it for me. Elvis was a great singer. Did lots of movies. But the movies? Not for me. Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube, Cher, Timberlake, Madonna (please no), Dean Martin, Barbra Streisand. The list goes on. But no winner here.

I got a winner though. It's Kris Kristofferson. Huge career as a singer, solo and with The Highwaymen (Cash, Jennings, Nelson and himself) and a big list of big movies. And hugely underrated as a songwriter ("Me and Bobby McGee").

Movies like "Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid", "A Star Is Born", "Lone Star" (great), "Payback", "Blade" or "Convoy" (he will always be Rubber Duck to me).

What do you think?

Cher is probally the best at both for me and as a David Bowie fan I have to mention him too!

David Hasselhoff

Ann-Margret

Doris Day

Judy Garland

Sylvester Stallone (Rhinestone)

Clint Eastwood (Paint Your Wagon)

ITA about The Chairman of the Board, Cher, Elvis. Kristofferson got some renown as composer, but never as a singer. I understand his acting gigs resulted from
who he knew, not what he could do. He was the Asshole Buddy of everyone in Hollywood. If someone likes him, fine. I always thought he was a hanger-on, kind of like Rebecca Pigeon (also a singer/songwriter), who gets good roles (and dialogue!) because her husband is David Mamet.

The OP does not know what a sentence fragment is. I ignore him/her.

Quite harsh on my man Kris. But fair enough, to each their own. Just funny though you mention David Hasselhoff. I admit I enjoy Knight Rider very much, he brought some inoccent, childish fun into his part of the show. And his song "Looking For Freedom" will always be stuck in my head somewhere. AND he brought down the Berlin Wall all by himself. But on a list as BEST singer/actor. Oh my....

Frank Sinatra
He was in a ton a films, and usually gave very good performances. Films like ...
From Here To Eternity
The Manchurian Candidate
The Man With the Golden Arm
Von Ryan's Express
Ocean's 11
Pal Joey
High Society
A Hole In the Head
Guys and Dolls
and many, many more

if I had to pick one person who excelled in both roles, it would be Frank.

Also,
Doris Day
Judy Garland (what an incredibly evocative yet individualist timbre the lady had)

i'm weak on the current generation of stars

Gwyneth Paltrow has a magnificent singing voice and is a very good actress. Why she never had a singing career alongside her film career I will never know. Here she is singing ' Coming Home ' from the film ' Country Strong ' (2010)

As always go into Settings and boost the resolution from the default 360p to the highest setting for better quality audio.
