Anyone actually cried because a celebrity died?

I see on the news when it happens, Michael Jackson, Robin Williams or more recently Kobe Bryant.

reply

I haven't yet that I can recall, but I have a feeling when Betty White dies I might.

reply

She always seems like such a genuinely sweet person.

reply

I agree.

Macho Man Randy Savages passing made my cry a little

reply

So many WWE wrestlers die early I've noticed.

reply

No but some celebrity deaths hit pretty hard
Tom Petty still stings for instance

reply

No.

I was watching the "Over the Edge" PPV when that happened. I was 11. I remember they cut a promo when he actually fell. But I didn't cry about it. Shocking that Vince allowed the PPV to go on. You can clearly see the wrestler's facial reactions rest of the night that they weren't into the matches anymore. Really sad.

BTW- did you happen to catch the "Dark Side Of the Ring" episode on Owen's death? Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A7iFm93g2w. It was released this year. It's a really great episode and gives insight into his death. Martha Hart (Owen's widow) even showed the flimsy clip that WWE used to harness Owen. Shocking. Even Owen's kids are part of the episode. Very interesting episode and I highly recommend it.

While sad, I can't recall actually crying or even misting up.

I did shed a tear when Vanilla the hamster died. (I'm not joking.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj4d-w3bwjg At 16:00 when Vanilla looks down from hamster heaven I lost it.

If you watch the whole video it’s even more powerful. I had to turn away at the end, but at least I know he’s still there looking down forever.

Robin Williams and David Bowie.

The world is so much less colourful without them.

reply

Yes. Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Ian Holme recently. It's partly because seeing them go also signals that I'm mortal and aging, a lot more quickly than I'd like to admit.
