Do you like mustard?

Well, do you?

I've always wanted to try out Honey mustard. As well, as Dijon and horseradish mustards. I've only tried classic and its okay.

reply

Yes! I grew up on German brats so of course I do.

I recently made some chili dogs when the first hint of fall was announced. Mustard was applied to the wieners before being topped by the chili. Great combo if you've never had it!

reply

I've never had chili dogs. One of my regrets when I used to live in the States.

reply

That regret is well founded! It's a great, satisfying, comfort food that should be on your bucket list.

I don't think I had a chili dog growing up. Being from NYC I also never had a Chicago dog until well into adulthood. It's like a meal in itself. The only things that come on it that I don't like are relish (I like pickles but not relish) and sport peppers. Still, overall, I think it is too much and the hot dog gets lost in all the fixins.

In NYC the most you would ever put on a hot dog was mustard, NY style onion sauce, and sauerkraut. For those not familiar with this onion sauce: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ijsDukGkS_A/maxresdefault.jpg

reply

Kraut dogs is something else I also really enjoy, with the only other ingredient being mustard.

I'm one that's unfamiliar with the onion sauce but that does look like a perfect combo.

reply

Not so much. It can be good on hamburgers, but I don't like it in anything else.

reply

Makes sense. It's a staple for hamburgers.

reply

It's kind of even more of a staple for hot dogs, but I don't care for it in them at all.
I will take them with only the ketchup.

reply

Yeah I do and I like trying different types. One type I had ages ago tasted a lot like Big Mac sauce.

Honey mustard is the only real option when eating Weißwuascht for breakfast.

I've been to Dijon for a couple of times, bought mustard there too, but it's just like normal Estragon to me. Possibly a bit heavier on the vinegar note.

reply

What hell is "Weißwuascht"?

reply

A traditional Bavarian dish, served with lye rolls or pretzels.

reply

Unfortunately no. I try it from time to time because my taste buds have changed over the years, but it’s still not my favourite 😕

reply

Not really, but for hot dogs it's a must(ard) lol.
Dijon is nice.

reply

Honey mustard is tasty. Especially with baked ham on a bun. And I've had tons of mustards with other flavours. Maille has a nice selection:

They sell it in many stores. If you have wanted to try honey mustard and Dijon, go for it. The risks are low, and you might like it.

reply

I would just hate to buy a container and if I don't like it, now I'm stuck with it, y'know?

reply

You can throw it out if you really don’t like it. It’s less than $10.

reply

It's not about the money I'm concerned about. I just hate wasting perfectly good food. Especially with all the hungry and homeless out there.
