British music > American music. Who agrees?

I've always preferred English music over American and I don't even think it's close. Here are some (I've probably forgotten some) of artists who are considered legendary by many, as well as a list of some of the worst artists of all time. I honestly had a tough time coming up for bad ones for England.

Not saying that those aren't good, but I put the one that were more legendary.

reply

I'll choose this list.

reply

They're equally good in my opinion

reply

What? NO SEX PISTOLS??

reply

Only had one official album.

reply

Quality over quantity.

reply

I could easily list a hundred artists from each country that are amazing. The only thing I will say is that British music is possibly a little more eclectic than American.

reply

But I'd still put British music way ahead. I could even list a bunch of obscure British bands or less popular than the ones I listed that I like over American.

reply

What about the curious case of Falco?

reply

Who?

reply

Amadeus??

reply

I'm not a fan of classical, but I've seen the movie.

reply

He had a big hit with ‘Rock Me Amadeus’.

reply

Oh that guy. Would have never guessed his name.

reply

Yep, No.1 internationally.

reply

Also known as Craig Ferguson.

👍 one of MTV VJ's said at the time "sometimes you get a pop hit coming right out of left field"

Describes perfectly this song, right out of left field.

reply

I own the Rock Me Amadeus 30th Anniversary edition, 7 versions of Rock Me Amadeus! Love it! 🤘

Here’s the Simpsons parody, ‘Dr Zauis’.

We watched the same TV! LOL

reply

It’s probably 40 years since I saw that, lol.

Katy Perry is bad, but Taylor Swift escapes the shit list?

Both are hot but their music is generic crap.

Sam Smith should be added to the tripe list too for the worst Bond song ever! 🤮

reply

Sam Smith, Adele, George Ezra, all leave me cold. I must be getting old.

reply

I had a feeling that if I put Taylor Swift on the shit list, people were going to come after me with "but she's won so many Grammy's".

reply

Lady Gaga also sucks

reply

I can't stand her, but I can't deny people think she's amazing.

reply

"Lady Gaga also sucks"

And how.

Still a great performer, songwriter, vocalist and a pretty decent actress too.

I wasn't that fond of her most recent album (with the exception of the insanely good Elton John duet) but overall I think she's the real deal.

reply

Her songs are pretty mediocre tbh fam. You want a great singer/songwriter try Laura Nyro.

reply

I prefer American. Too many of the 'good' in the British list I don't like much at all.
