Depends on the floor. Sometimes towels can slide easy. If it's safe, why not?

I might try this. Ever notice how the rubber backing on bath mats starts to crumble after a couple of years? Mine are at that stage now. But if you eliminate the rubber backing, you eliminate the crumbling.

I've bought several different mats of other materials but nothing beats a towel.
