Why are they always '9 days ago' and '3 years ago', rather than just the date and time the post was made?

Apologies if this has been addressed before.

Also when you report a post it would be good if there was space to leave a comment as to why it is being reported.

All the secret agents from various countries need cover.

A more accurate timestamp will ruin "plausible deniability", and possibly give out the time zone.

It is great to see that I'm not the only one to miss the times stamps.
But I had no idea what to call them (I'm not a native speaker of English).
